since when did kmart actually pose any threat to anyone? and with them how about big lots, shopko, or little billy's backyard hd dvd and porno shop... oh yeah, never... let them be exclusive, i never see anyone in those stores anymore.

Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2007) -- Toshiba says discount retailer Kmart has decided to exclusively carry Toshiba HD DVD players.

... Toshiba spokeswoman Jody Sally tells the publication that Kmart has decided to carry HD DVD instead of Blu-ray because of its lower price.

The Toshiba entry-level HD DVD player retails for $299, but is now available for $198 at several stores including Circuit City and Wal-Mart.

K-Mart most likely got some very needed $$$$ to sign up. I cannot think of a K-Mart anywhere in the Seattle Metro area??

Lol this is hilarious!

Here in Australia K-mart is known for selling SHIT electronics, $1.99 crap!

The HDUD fanbots will be hailing this as the second coming whilst saying that Blockbuster going exclusive meant nothing and Netflix is the bomb!

KMART is the place you go to to buy products that suck! It is the place you go to buy things that are second hand, don't work, old technology, out-of-date... I bet you can still find 8 tracks down there...

I avoid my local K-Mart like the plague. It is the epitome of trashiness. All K-Marts I've ever been to are like that. Soooo messy and disorganized and out of date. My local K-Mart still keeps all DVD's behind glass cases and sells a nice selection of VCR's

If they are going exclusive does that mean they carried blu-ray before?

Well here in Australia Woolworths owns Dick Smith which is one of the MAJOR electronics retailers in Australia, they sell latest tv's, dvds etc pretty much everything!

And They also own BIGW which is a BIG seller of DVD's.

Kmart seems to be doing alright here in Australia, cant comment on the states. But as I said they aren't known for selling quality electrical : Magnavox, Sanyo branded plasmas and other wierd and strange brands that I'd be too scared to even plug in!
