Nice. Still so many King adaptations that need releases.

Silver Bullet
Cat's Eyes
Salem's Lot (1979)
The Night Flyer
IT

I'd even buy Graveyard Shift

Looking forward to this one, there's been a HDTV airing of it that wasn't that spectacular in quality, I hope this blu-ray will do this movie justice.

Anybody had a chance to look at this one yet?

Hoping it's not another 1080i job like Grizzly from Filmedia.

I got delivery estimate date for monday, been anticipating this blu-ray since it got announced.

I do hope someday this movie will get a special edition release with commentary, deleted scenes, ... there's a workprint featuring more footage of Stark (in the telephone conversations with Thad) that probably got left out to expose him less. Also the sequence where he kidnaps Liz & the babies.

Just arrived, french subs are removable (thank god) and I get the 24 Hz progressive signal so it is not 1080i. Will check out the movie this evening.

Thumbs up

Just finished watching it and it's the best I've ever seen the movie look. When the widescreen version came out on dvd in Europe it was an improvement, but here all the detail really shines. It is not a total homerun as there are still moments of dust/wear on the picture especially in the prologue with young Thad Beaumont & the hospital (this sequence never looked that great on vhs/dvd).

The scene that made me notice the quality upgrade was the one where Liz is reading Thad's notes with the babies. The picture looks better as it progresses, I've seen this movie countless of times and I picked up on details I hadn't before. From Stark's boots, the shiny surface of the black tornado, the makeup job on Hutton to the closeups of a pencil writing on paper, it looks great in High Def. The nightmare sequence with the vase and the oven looks great, the
[Show spoiler]end battle with Stark being eaten by the sparrows looks amazing
and especially the night scenes, the
[Show spoiler]murder of the photographer & the writer
finally are done justice here. Most of the special effects hold up nicely (especially the gore), but where they used CGI birds you can tell more easily now; also some of the fake NY backdrops you can tell they filmed on set, but I think that adds to the charm.

The audio is ok, I wish the score came through a bit more (dolby stereo) and the dialogue is mostly in the front speakers but the shock moments did make me take notice.

Very pleased with this blu-ray!

Thanks for posting. Its always great to hear fans' thoughts on titles as opposed to just review Sites. Sounds like a winner and a future purchase. I love this wee film as well. Bring on DEAD ZONE and FIRESTARTER now!!

I agree with the review posted above. It's not pristine, it's not the most beautiful BD I've seen but it's the best the film has looked so far and although there aren't any extra features, I'm pleased with this release.

Excellent news on the release. Gotta add this to my French import list...
