HDD2 and IIR will perform well (until it hits Netflix internationally). Who knows if the international release could affect the film.

Alita is a wild card. I want it to do well domestically, but it's unlikely. Could kill internationally.

I think Alita will eek it out over Happy Death Day 2U.

I had no interest in seeing Isn’t It Romantic based on the premise, but I saw the trailer in front of Beale Street last night. It looks fun and I like the cast. I might give it a chance in theaters.

Hoping that Alita just blows the door wide open domestically, but we saw how GITS did even with a household name like ScarJo.

IIR has a Hemsworth, so that’s automatically no #1.

I cannot wait for HDD2U, but I feel it will disappoint. I just don't sense much excitement and I don't think they've been pushing it that hard. I think Isn't It Romantic does more. Lego Movie will be #1 obviously.

People seem to think that Avatar was a great movie so I figure they'll gladly throw money at Alita.

Alita looks bad though. Personally I don't even like Avatar. I don't think many will care about this. No way it does better than Ghost In The Shell which had the starpower of ScarJo.

I will be rooting for Happy Death Day 2 as I adored the first one. But I'm just not sure how it will do.

I agree with Mike that I can't see a way that Lego won't win the week.

Alita will take all or most of the premium screens away from The Lego Movie. Every IMAX and Dolby Cinema screen in my area will be playing Alita next weekend. Lego will still have standard 3D.

It had an alright CS (a B) and while I know quite a few people personally that loved the first I also know people who weren't crazy about it because it wasn't scary. I hope one day more people will understand the concept of a horror comedy and not every "horror" film has to be scary.

The hook for the first gave it more breakout potential but it may have been a mistake to go with the same day being repeated again. I have seen many comments on Twitter that it's just the same as the first movie. Even one of my friends who loved the first isn't impressed by the trailer. Oh well, maybe good reviews will help. Director Christopher Landon's movies have a pretty good track record of being well-received by critics. I think the movie itself will deliver and be a great time. I really want it to do well so my fingers are crossed it's not a total flop.

If I had to guess, I'd think Lego 2.

I'm not actually sure of next week to be honest. I don't know which way Alita will go, whether it will surprise or go the way of Mortal Engines and nose dive. Isn't it Romantic and Happy Death Day 2U will do fine though

Well it's only got a production budget of $9M, so I think it will do fine in the end.

But yeah, I don't see it breaking $50M domestic and $120M ww like the first one did.

Never mind, it looks like LEGO Movie 2 is having a much lower opening than expected (33 million estimated) and loses its Dolby, IMAX, and 3D screens to Alita. That means it’s second weekend will only be around 20 million, which is about what Happy Death Day 2U and Isn’t It Romantic should do. I think Alita will squeak out ahead of those.
