Full Moon just emailed about their release:
http://www.fullmoondirect.com/Dollma...Ray_p_799.html I know the UK disc is coming from 88 Films soon so I was not surprised... will get the US one if it gets good reviews. |

It took 9 days to get here but it finally showed up!
![]() The disc is a BD25 and arrives in an eco-vortex case, and even has the fancier y-fold cellophane, not super cheap heat shrinkwrap. ![]() I haven't had a chance to watch the whole movie yet but after a quick look at the disc I have to say the image quality is great - there is even some actual film grain! The optical effect shots look terrible (as expected) and during the beginning few minutes there seems to be a slight image shift or wobbling issue, I can't recall if that is inherent to the source or not. Overall a pretty great effort on a low budget direct to video film from the early 90's, better than one might expect. Keep the source in mind and your expectations should be met ![]() BDinfo scan for the curious: Code:

Edit: I think I can best describe it is the image ripples, kind of like a wave, for a few frames. Seems to happen quite a few times between 8 -15mins. Good example at 14min 53 sec. I checked against the old DVD and I don't see it at all there. I have to watch the whole disc but I only noticed it near the beginning of the movie so far. The old DVD is cropped on the sides to 4x3, in some scenes whole faces are cut off, so it is nice to see the movie in its OAR! Last edited by grrrarg; 10-04-2013 at 10:39 PM. |

I have also found this issue, and it is intermittent throughout the film. It does appear to be wave-like, as the image seems to bulge or stretch as it travels down the frame. Once you notice it, it can be difficult to ignore. Outside of this issue, I've never seen Dollman look better.

Here's a comparison with the 88 Films' release, spec-wise:

EDIT: Has anyone viewed the 88 Films release and can comment on whether this 'wave' issue is present? |
