Default center in ceiling + 2 bookshelf

i used to have my tv toward the front of the room so the speakers were inwall 6" and a cheaper center by the tv cabinet. it was a tube 40" tv so you can only think about how large this thing was. in any case even though i miss playing sega on it, it was time for an upgrade. i now have an led tv in the center of the room changing the dynamic of the speaker setup. the center piece im just going to discard because its simply cheap. now ive been doing a little research and then i spoke to someone. the person recommended that i dont use 2 different companies because of the unity. so it through me back a bit because i wanted to use the audioengine p4s and then a center. the second obstacle im faced with is the lady of the house doesnt want to see the center in or around the fireplace or tv so im locked into getting an in ceiling center. is it in-antiquate to do this?

1 Def Tech DI 8R
2 Def Tech studiomonitor 45

or is it that much of a difference to go with the

1 Def Tech UIW RSS III
2 Def Tech studiomonitor 45

and would anyone recommend the idea of mixing the center with the audioengine

If you can avoid an in ceiling speaker I would attempt to do that. Depending on your situation you may be able to say "If we get in ceiling speakers, I will just have to buy new speakers when we move." I know that worked with my wife.

I have a mix and match system. I think that people can mix and match speakers and it sound fantastic. Depends on your tastes and what speakers your combining. I have never listened to the Def Tech in ceiling speakers or the Audioengine speakers (reviews of the a2 and a5 have been great) so I couldn't help you out there.

the room size it not large so im content getting the in-ceiling. especially one that looks like that deftech and i have 0 plans on moving.

do you think this would be a better center than the inceiling?

In my opinion: yes. I have not heard either speaker so there is some room for error here but my experience has been that cabinet speakers have a large advantage over ceiling speakers in the fact that they are more likely to be aimed at your ears or at ear level. Looking for an on wall speaker then?
