Default Juttering on new discs. Could it be the player?

For a while now I've been experiencing juttering picture on brand new blu-rays. I've taken them out and given them a clean (even though they are immaculate) but it doesn't seem to help.
The problem doesn't always occur in the exact same spot but it is usually within a minute or two of the original issue.

I'm finding it hard to believe that it can be the discs.

I have a Panasonic SC-BTT190 and it's about 2 years old.
It's firmware is up to date.
It is used every day, could it be worn?

Could it be the HDMI cable? It's a pretty standard cable and it's a lot older than my player as I used it with my previous one.

Are there various settings I should check within my TV or players menu?

My TV is an LG 37LE5300

Any help/advice would be much appreciated as I'm getting so worked up about it, it's trying me mental.

EDIT: Just tried one if the discs on a different player and it works fine. Gonna try out that HDMI cable later and see if that makes a difference. Quite worried it's the player
It would be better if it were just the discs

EDIT: Tried a different HDMI and no difference. Definitely the player so im guessing it could be a dirty/dusty laser lens.
Bought a cleaning disc so hope it does the trick

EDIT: Tried the disc. Didn't do a thing.

im not sure what you mean , but i once owned that same model tv and i would suggest turning off trumotion (or whatever lg calls it) and adjusting the 120hz features to their minimum settings
possibly turning off 24fps on your player might help

It basically freezes for a bit then the picture might split and then it'll jump however-many-seconds to the point where it's fine and continue playing normally.

Fiddled around with the settings on the TV and player but doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.

It's strange, out of all the Blu-rays I have it's only ever done it on brand new discs of Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2 and Star Trek Into Darkness (so far!)
These are pretty new films, in the sense of release year, so have they maybe changed something in all new BD's and my player has a problem understanding this!?
If I play anything else it seems to be ok. For example I've been watching Torchwood recently. Watched the entire 1st series without any issue.

My Panasonic BDT310 recently started freezing up just like yours. Started happening on Walking Dead season 4. I think my Panasonic is no longer supported by firmware updates. So I went ahead and bought an Oppo 103D.

Did you clean the inside of your player. I cleaned the inside of my Panasonic BDT-110 and it is playing fine.

I've only the cleaning disc method.
How do I clean it manually without damaging it?

If it's out of warranty you could pop the casing off and see if there's any dust build-up inside. Use a PC air cleaner to clean the dust out but unless your player has large air vents on the rear or top I wouldn't think it was that dusty. Run the lens cleaner after that.

Unless the player is overheating I would have thought it's a firmware issue first and a player laser issue second. I've had similar problems, if it's in the exact same spot (which you've said it isn't) it's probably a firmware issue, if it isn't it might be an overheating problem. If you turn the BD player on and go straight to the where the issues take place does it still glitch?

Right ok, might give that a shot.
It's always in the exact same spot but sometimes it differs slightly.
eg. Happens at a specific point. I take the disc out, give it a wipe down etc etc, put it back in and go to the same place. The same problem occurs but it might happen a second later or the glitching happens in a different way.
I've tried Iron Man 3 about 6 times and it's always at that same point.

EDIT: Took the casing off. There was barely any dust but gave it a wee clean anyway. Put it back together, used the cleaning disc and then tried Star Trek Into Darkness and no change. Done it exactly at the same bit in my video and then continued to played fine at exactly the same bit too. There are another couple of bits (can't remember where exactly) that it happens at. What's strange is that it's not like its just the 1 disc that's scratched or something. It's been 4 brand spanking new discs that are immaculate.

I don't understand how if it's a player problem then it only does it for a minute or so at different bits on different discs. It's so random. Surely if there was a problem it would do it on any disc.

It sounds like the player is the issue, whether it's on it's way out or it's just incompatible with those BDs I'm not sure. It must be very frustrating.

I think all BDs are made to a standard but it's possible that some discs are slightly irregular if there's been an authoring error and your player is more susceptible to it. If you can get replacements (STID is the Star Trek Compendium import?). it might be worth a shot or if you know anyone who has the same BD it might be worth trying theirs on your player. It will probably give you a definitive answer, whether it's the discs or player.

Yeah I mean it does get used pretty regularly. Every day for sure for at least a few hours.

I'm thinking you could be right. That it could be an authoring error. It's never done it on a disc before 2013. IM3 was the first and that was about a year ago this month that it came out. Most films released since then have been a problem. Like you say, my player could be more susceptible to it because it worked fine on a different player.

Yeah, I'll rent the same films and try out those discs. That'll give me the answer to that question at least.

My older Samsung BD player is upstairs had that always seemed to struggle with new releases but if I restarted the player or skipped backwards they played fine after that. It happened last week with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 about 3/4 it just froze and crashed the player but that's an extreme case. It usually just breaks up the picture sending a horrible noise to my speakers!

I hope you get it sorted anyway mate.

I have Star Trek Into Darkness. I'll see if mine does the same thing. I take it you have the 2D Blu-Ray and not the 3D Blu-Ray?

Yeah it's the 2D disc. Thing is though the disc plays fine on another player. My player just doesn't like it. Thanks though

I tried the 2D Star Trek: ID Blu-Ray on my player and it played fine. So it must be your Blu-Ray player if it plays fine on anothe player.

It really seems like a firmware issue. You should email customer support and tell them I am having issues with the following disc. Perhaps its a complaint that they have heard before and they will be proactive about it.

In an ideal world we would like them to test every disc but we know they don't. They will never know till you bring it to their attention. Personally I think they are secretly waiting for us to buy new players lol.

In a strange turn of events;
The rented copies of Into Darkness and Iron Man 3 work fine. So you would think it was my discs. However, my discs works fine on a different player.
So basically my player doesn't like my copies...
What the hell!
Makes no sense.

Set my player back to it's factory settings. It still does it at the same points but it's not quite as bad.
Getting there I think

I'd check to see if the batch numbers are different on the Rental discs. Either your player is slightly out of sync with the norm or the BDs are.

Just to confuse me even more, I watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2 fully expecting that to play up since its a new release. It didn't! It worked perfectly fine!
