Default Copy-Cat Films (Poll)

Copy-Cat Films released within a year (Or sometimes less) of eachother happen quite often, and I'm finally curious to see which of the two are preferred the most. I'm not asking anyone to defend a film since it was first out of the gate (Pitched, or in production first) or which is the higher-caliber film overall. I simply want to see which film you enjoy more than the other (Even if it's by a small margin). If you think of any more titles that belong on the list, mention it below and I'll add it when I can. (If you haven't seen a particular movie of the two or either film, leave each off of your list)

Copy-Cat Films:

1995:

"Dante's Peak" or "Volcano"

1998:

"Antz" or "A Bug's Life"

"Armageddon" or "Deep Impact"

2000:

"Mission To Mars" or "Red Planet"

2005:

"The Cave" or "The Descent"

2010:

"The A-Team" or "The Losers"

"Kick-Ass" or "Super"

2010/2011:

"Battle: Los Angeles" or "Skyline"

2012:

"Dredd" or "The Raid: Redemption"

"Mirror, Mirror" or "Snow White & the Huntsman"

2013:

"Olympus Has Fallen" or "White House Down"

My Choices:

"Volcano"
"A Bug's Life"
"Armageddon"
"Red Planet"
"The Descent"
"The Losers"
"Kick-Ass"
"Battle: Los Angeles"
"Dredd"
"Snow White & the Huntsman"
"White House Down"

Don't forget the first two films in the future "Tarsem Singh wanted to direct them" trilogy, Immortals (/Clash of the Titans), and Mirror, Mirror (/Snow White & the Huntsman).
Of those, it's usually better when he doesn't.

I'd say synchronicity, rather than copy cat, because most these films went into production at the same time rather than being copies of another.

The year The Abyss came out also saw underwater alien/monster adventures Leviathan and Deep Star Six.

Capote and Infamous were both made at the same time and were about Truman Capote researching In Cold Blood.

An American Werewolf in London and The Howling were both werewolf films with a comedic/satirical tone to come out in 1981.

Most of them BECAUSE they'd heard James Cameron was shooting a movie underwater, and thought "Underwater aliens? I'll bet Sigourney Weaver's in it!"

One of the prime object lessons in "Never typecast a director you only remember one hit movie for." You'll just look ridiculous.

John Ford's Stagecoach > roughly a third of all of the movies that have been made since Stagecoach was released.
