Default Speaker advice, what would you do?

I currently have an Onkyo TX SR508 with an Infinity TSS450 setup and am looking to upgrade. Considering my geographical situation, new is my best bet.. so here's what i'm looking at.

BIC DV bookshelves and matching center

Pioneer AJ bookshelves and matching center

If I go BIC, I can either upgrade to a BIC 8" sub or the matching surrounds

If I go Pioneer I can upgrade to a Dayton 12"

Or BIC F series bookshelves and matching center and keep my current sub and sats

Are these the only considerations?

What is your budget?

Well. I ended up ordering a set of BIC DV62i's, a BIC DV CLR6 center, and a Dayton Audio SUB-1000. I'll round my system out with two pairs of Dayton BS652's or BIC surrounds when I sell my Inifinity setup

Nice man! Lets have some pics when you get it all set up, and let us know how you like it all.

Hi all, Im in the market for bookshelf speakers. I currently have rtia3,s, they are great with music, but find them too bright and sometimes harsh for ht. Ive eq,d some of the higher freq out which has helped, but its time to switch as ive come down with upgrade-itis. Not sure how much I need to spend to show an appreciable difference from my rtia3,s and also better suited for home theater.

I like to listen at close to reference and so buying an amp to power them if my onkyo 717 is up to snuff is an option even if it delays the purchase.

Have been looking at def tech sm65s and a few others. Id like to keep it under a grand, but a lil flexible as im accustomed to waiting, took me a year to decide on a xv15.

any thoughts appreciated

Both can play well into reference levels have solid musical and ht performance levels.

I believe the Focals would be a tad more forward but that is a great deal on them and a good thing they are the 800 series.
