Arrow Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara - The Fighter Trailer:

Quote:
During a panel at PAX East, Capcom confirmed plans to port its two Dungeons & Dragons games for release on Wii U eShop, Steam, PSN, and XBLA as "Chronicles of Mystara." The collection comprises 1993's Tower of Doom and 1996's Shadow Over Mystara, both beloved four-player arcade fantasy brawlers set in D&D's Mystara world.
The only previous home release for these games was on the Saturn in 1999, which limited the games to two players, and further limited the games to being played by people who owned a Saturn.

The new version integrates a challenge system, and includes drop-in, drop-out online multiplayer using GGPO. A new "house rules" system will let you change the mechanics, turning it into a time attack or losing money instead of health when damaged, for example. All versions will have online leaderboards. Chronicles of Mystara will be released in June for $14.99.

Excellent news. A couple of classic arcade games that will be fun to revisit

Now if Sega would only release Golden Axe: The Revenge of Deathadder...

Yup, it's out on the PlayStation Store now. I bought it but haven't fired it up yet (still playing The Last of Us).

I picked this up last night and had a blast with it like back in the old days at the arcade

I don't remember the game being so long though, it could easily cost 10-20 to beat the game with quarters OMG. Really cool though, although I wish the inventory button was integrated a bit better. As it is, you can get annihilated trying to find the item to use you're looking for.

Just played the demo of this and it was pretty cool. I'm REALLY looking forward to the upcoming Vanillaware/Atlus game Dragon's Crown, and from what I've heard, it was heavily influenced by these games, and Golden Axe (me and my bro LOVE Golden Axe). Just playing the short demo, I could immediately see the heavy influence, which was so obvious lol it's a good thing, though. These old school games still pave the way for games today

Capcom likes to do that with classics. Like for instance Okami HD released in retail in Japan but PSN only everywhere else. It's like Capcom USA is saying that a classic game isn't worth releasing in retail.

But there could be other reasons like preventing Japanese fans from importing. Plus on top of that, I think there's even a limited edition that Japan can also get.

Not only does Japan get a physical copy with a limited edition option available, their version of the game is a little different than the Western version.

Quote:
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is a digital release handled by Iron Galaxy for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC in the West. In Japan, Capcom has staff that worked on the Dungeons & Dragons arcade games producing the ports for PlayStation 3. The result is the Japanese version, Dungeons & Dragons: Mystara Hero Chronicle, is a retail game in Japan with its own set of features.

Players can start out with magical items like the Dragon Shield and keys by bumping the difficulty down.

You can select up to nine chicks which makes the game easier by giving you magical gear. Want to make the Tower of Doom or Shadow over Mystara harder? Add up to nine skulls in the option menu. After you clear either arcade game you can automatically restart the game at higher difficulty level with the same items, experience points, and life. It’s kind of like an instant new game plus.

Both versions of Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara have chapter select options and unlockable artwork. It looks like the Japanese release will have extra content like a developer’s interview to watch. You can also view videos of boss battles to figure out battle strategies.

Dungeons & Dragons: Mystara Hero Chronicle comes out on August 22 for PlayStation 3.

Well that's a shame, I would have enjoyed those features! Especially the new game plus thing Oh well, I'm almost done with this game already, I have 90% items in SoM, and 57% in ToD, have all the challenges done, then in early August Dragon's Crown comes out
