OMG it's amazing! It looks like those cool Gone with the Wind/Wizard pf Oz boxets the US got. And if it was coming out at any other time except November, I would totally get it. But I have no moneys!

Don't you just love those mistakes?
Why can't it never be the other way around...?

I was reading the description for the Gift Set on amazon.co.uk and it says:

"Please note: This is a US boxset and all the individual components have US spelling on them."

I think amazon are just offering the US version to the UK.

Its kind of crappy that its $60 and £60, it shouldn't be dollar for pound. Comparing it to games, a US games RRP is about $60 where here is around £40.

Is this maybe because they are just selling US imports?

There is a gift set available in Australia for $67 which looks exactly the same as this gift set, only it has the horrible Australian ratings logo on the front of the main box.
I too am wondering if we are getting the US box to sell here. I am also wondering if it isn't all a mistake

I know, $60 currently converts to around £38! But if this is the same set, then we are paying an additional £22! But then again, with customs fees etc you would probably end up paying £60 if you imported from the US.

I was going to order one from the US but have instead ordered the standard 45th anniversary Blu-Ray from play.com as it's in their 2 for £18 sale.

The movie looks and sounds excellent, and the set is filled with hours and hours of bonus material, and you're still complaining about the release? Really?

No not a complaint at all about the content, thats not really my point....Its just an observation as to how decisions are made on to what gets supported by decent packaging.

I think I have come to the conclusion that some films are basically that dreadful the only way they can sell any decent numbers is to put them in a steelbox

How could you not like Sound of Music.....
It would have sold in huge numbers regardless of whether it had a fancy giftset version or not, and the fact that it has a flawless transfer won't hurt its sales.

I seem to be getting mixed up somewhere..

This is one of my favourite films (I went to the 70mm presentation at pictureville a few years ago ).

Now Im not to interested in the shoebox though as I know it will just collect dust and yes I know the contents the important thing..

But it would be nice if such a wonderful transfer , of one of my old time favourites had say a nice steelbox to sit proud in.. Because Im buggered if I know why any of the Twilight films etc etc etc seem to deserve one lol

I suppose its because it doesnt need a steelbox to sell it.. But it does seem to me the studios have this the wrong way round sometimes..

Oh OK I thought you were having a dig at SoM, in the category of "dreadful/pants films".
