Default How can MS say that Box Office sales are low because of HALO?

Did you guys read the article about MS defending its HD DVD stance on HomeMediaMagazine.com?

How can they say everyone is home playing HALO is the reason why Box Office sales are down this time of year? As if movies goers are all video game players and they all have an X-box

You guys are reading wrong

“We believe that the PS3 will follow the same course and that this holiday, when compelling games come out, PS3 customers will be drawn to be playing more games. In fact, if you look at the recent press releases, execs in Hollywood have attributed the declining box office revenues to the “Halo effect,” where customers are staying at home playing Halo 3 instead of coming to the movie theater.
MS is saying execs in Hollywood (NOT MS) have attributed the declining box office revenues to the "Halo Effect" This is how FUD is started, please read it correctly before you post.

this is the "were full of it" statement...

“If you look at the introduction of the PSP, what was the biggest software sales for the PSP when it launched? It was UMD,” said Collins. “Who sells UMD discs today? Sony. Why? Because once there was compelling games for the PSP, consumers spent their time playing games on the device, the primary reason it was purchased in the first place.

no the price was the issue MR. Collins. ask anyone
that and not one single other CE company makes UMD drives except SONY ,and the mere fact no other portable device carries the UMD drive .

Nice way to try to make Blu-Ray out to be like UMD you hack Collins...

NO WERE READING IT RIGHT ..SO WHAT MR Collins just so happens to say Media execs in Hollywood just so happens to point out that HALO is causeing the decline of Box office revenues because of HALO that one game..riiight

i agree Collins did not claim it..though he is just saying what execs has stated..which execs in Hollywood are those.?...because world wide box office sales are being reduced because of one game.. ..wow the same could be said about any game..IT does not mean its true.....

No I remember reading about this back in September about Heartbreak Kid and how the film executives were predicting a big turn out, but the movie did poorly so they blame it on Halo 3.

So yes you're reading it wrong. I'm not saying he's right but not once did MS say poor Box office sales are because of Halo 3. MS is saying execs in Hollywood are saying this.

A spokesman for Paramount, which owns Dreamworks, the studio that released the Ben Stiller movie, declined to discuss whether "Halo" had caused the "Kid" boondoggle. But privately, insiders at the studio suspect the blame might lie in part with "Halo 3," and are working to determine if there was a correlation.
