Default Taking on hddvd TOOLS @ eproduct wars...

I have never posted on that site before, but i'm sure those of you who visit there from time to time are familiar w/utter TOOLS like Mike HD spewing half truths, trying to trash BR & PS3's as useless, or losing because of issues that are mostly old news or leaving out certain details that would make their arguments appear more "legitimate". My request is to have folks visit eproductwars from time to time to maybe post FACTUAL rebuttals to their unabashed, flaming FUD. - lemme know if I'm on track w/my 1st post:

Bluray Fanboys run in fear!?!?,link - Show thread - By Paul Rap on November 2, 2007 - Hmm, let's see. $400 for a PS3 that does not play PS2 games or $500-600 for a PS3 that only plays some PS2 games. All PS3s being very expensive DVD players. OR, $100 for an HD DVD player. Hmm, history tells us the cheaper hardware wins. Plus the fact that Sony is trying to push another craptacular, proprietary format (so they can sell the licensing). This is huge for HD DVD. Like many of us, Sony has had broken products and promises (free upgrades that nerver happen) and will not buy Sony products ever again. Go back to your SDF crap web site and keep the lies there! We'll be enjoying our affordable HD expereince now!

Matt x responds on 2007-11-02 13:30:27.0: I never posted on this site before, but some of the TOOLS spouting half-assed arguments dressed as fact has driven me to TRY to give perspective to those who are "on the fence" about these two formats, who might be unfairly swayed by the aforementioned "arguments" - so here's my .02, trying to point out the stuff Mr. Rap left out: 1) IF ANY PS3's are unable to play PS2-1 games, firmware fixes will allow software emulation to enable that function (this has been mentioned elsewhere) You left that out, Paul. 2) I don't get what you mean by "very expensive DVD players". They DO play DVD, blurays, surf the internet, allow you to rip CDs to their harddrives (I use mine as a jukebox for parties), Oh and they'll run Linux if you wanna use 'em as a PC, whereas HDDVD players do none of that. So which is the "expensive DVD player"? you left that out, Paul. 3) Ah, yes - Sony and their "proprietary" format, so they can "sell licensing" - I have a question for YOU, Paul - who owns the "licensing" for the DVD format? (here's your answer - Toshiba). Who would NOT include Sony in the development of that format (and share in the licensing? Toshiba). Who would NOT allow Sony to co-develop the next-gen discs soon to become HDDVD? (Toshiba). As much as it is touted as "Sony's Format", there are numerous manufacturers and movie studios who are partners in BR. So who IS actually acting "proprietary"? (do ya wanna guess? don't bother - Toshiba). Report inappropriate content

Matt x responds on 2007-11-02 13:35:37.0: oh, BTW - The "cheaper product" DOESN'T win.....it's software. and before you jump on that statement as BR fanboyism, recall that HDDVD fanboys FROM THE BEGINNING were predicting victory 'cause "porn chose HDDVD" (they actually didn't, but that's beside the point) - same reason VHS won. In the VHS scenario, and from the mouths of HDDVD fanboys themselves, software was (and will be) the deciding factor - NOT HARDWARE. Oh, wait - and BR SOFTWARE is leading the market, 2 to 1, even over HDDVD's best efforts (transformers- meh.)

why bother?

the amount of FUD that poliferates the net preventing intelligent logical discussions of the issues is unbelievable. It is clear you won't get an intelligent response out of guy like that. I guess all you hope for is that someone intelligent actually reads your respond for what it is.

Someone said it here before: $99 hd dvd player will not equal more software sales because the people buying it most likely will be unable to afford buying $25-$29 movies regularly. Sure they might buy a couple of movies initially but that will be it. $99 would have been a good price in the future when the movies go down to $9.99.

Plus $99 is for the USA only. You have to look at worldwide numbers.

Don't waste your time too much. For example in the world there will always be bad guys: Terrorists, Child molesters, Thieves, HD DVD supporters, Villains in video games, orcs and zombies in RPG games etc. No matter how hard you put them in their place they will keep coming back. Just like those idiot tools at HDD like citrixguy, Volume 11, dragonZ28, etc.

Do you really think that anyone who matters (someone who is looking to purchase a player) looks at eproductwars? I mean come on. The only people who look at that site are people keeping track of what is going on in the war, the HD DVD side and the Blu-ray side. I can pretty much tell you that people looking for information on the two will be looking for more informational sites, not there. I'd never heard of it until I started coming here. They are desperately trying to convice people that aren't there.

thank's matt i also post there and Mike HD is a joke and Milt both have it OUT for Blu-Ray because they have this IDEA Blu-Ray is a Sony Only format.any one can see Sony did not go alone in putting Blu-Ray on the Market..its far from Just a Sony only format as DVD is....Blu-Ray is not just Sony's format and the Media always uses this little phrase

" HD DVD against Sony's Blu-Ray format"

god i hate that...
