Default Getting new 1080p LCD

Long time reader, first time poster.

I am currently in the process of buying a new 1080p TV/monitor. I need any educated suggestion or just opinions.

I have narrowed my searches down to the Sony KDL46XBR4 and the Samsung LNT4671F. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one might be the better TV/monitor in the long run? Who owns these and could give me the pros and cons of each? Is there anything else that might top these two?

This forum seems to be the best place for avid technology freaks like me to get the answers I am looking for that you just can't find anywhere else.

Here are some opinions already:
Sony XBR4 or Samsun LN-T4071

Although it's the Samsung 40".

Sony took first place in the under 50" lcd or plasma category on J.D. Power & Associates customer satisfaction survey. In the above 50" the Sony lcds came in second to the much higher priced Pioneer plasmas.

What's the best deal you've seen on the 46XBR4? I'm really close into talking my wife into letting me get one.

best place ive seen it is sears. till nov 3rd. aka this price ends tomororw night.
2699.99. Also take 250 off if you use your sears card to make the 46xbr4 2449.99 + tax. best deal ive seen anyplace. even compared to alot of places online its cheaper. except you pay tax with sears and shipping with online.

Any of the XBR3+ series are great televisions. Any who have purchased them only heap praises on them. They are at much affordable prices than they used to be, especially since the XBR5 line came out.

If I wait until Black Friday I wonder if they will get even cheaper. My wife is probably not ready to move tonight.

Buy the Sony. I own 2 Sony LCDs and love both of them. My father has a Samsung LCD and loves his, but everytime he visits he says my sony looks better than his Samsung. All are 1080p.

Most of the deals you will see on Black Friday will be on 720p and 1080i tvs. Stores will be trying to get rid of their old stock on these models. However, I'm sure their will be a couple of 1080p sets for sale.

thats cnet tho... half their reviews are honestly junk. dont get the 81 series. Alot of samsungs specs are overbloated. like the contrast's. The 81 series had a few issues early on in their production some of which are fixed but in the end its still a new "type" of technology and they are still working out problems.

My store represents both brands and technologies. In a side by side comparison with the same content playing, the same screen size, the Sony yielded perfect skin tones, the entire color palet was spot on, their is more discernable details in the darker scenes, the black level is also right on. So, from my perspective, and the consumers who come in here, see the difference and opt to the Sony. That is my recommendation to you. If you can, go see the actual units, side by side, then decide. Enjoy!!! [Jim]

Thanks for all the responses. I was leaning toward the Sony. Sorry I missed the earlier post about this...
