Warner Bros Creed (2015) [No 3D Blu-ray]

Guess this was converted to 3D and is now in limited release?
Has anyone seen it?

It's a great sign for 3D that they are doing this...... I just hope it is a high quality conversion so other films might do the same. If it is a bad conversion, it would actually hurt 3D more than help it.

That's surprising. How unnecessary...

Creed is a 2D movie being given a rushed conversion three months after its initial release, presumably to get people back in the theater and rejuvenate its Oscar buzz. 3D movies work best when the director is passionate about the 3D process and actively involved in using depth to tell his story from the beginning. I doubt Ryan Coogler even sees this version. They might as well convert the local news to 3D too.

Does everything have to be in 3D?

Absolutely not! Only every director-intended 3D creation.

Funny, I saw a listing for an 3D showing of Creed when I was looking at that theater for show times of another movie this weekend, and just figured it was an error.

I'm guessing no chance this is on Blu with the release just a few weeks away, if so, I may go check it out this week (really liked the movie and was interested in seeing it again already, though was waiting for the blu for that).

I loved Creed, but I'm not so sure about this being in 3D.

Well, as I've said I was already interested in seeing the film again, and I've previously complained about these smaller 3D releases being overseas early, so I decided to see it tonight.

And yeah, it's not a great conversion at all, plenty of scenes that seem to have very little 3D effect and even a few cardboard cutout looking effects (such as Phylicia Rashad in the opening scene). Though as you probably expect, there at least is medium 3D in the boxing sequences, with a few standout shots in the opening fight (helped that the camera here is placed right behind the ropes so it provides a good sense of depth) and the final one (which has the sole pop-out effect I noticed).

If you want to see Creed in 3D and know what to expect, go ahead, though certainly not the type of release I would choose to introduce anyone to the format (not that it will get much attention, the film has been out for months and this conversion got virtually no press, and there were maybe 10 people there).

Yes Philadelphia in 3D! I also went to the theater Saturday (to see The Boy) and saw Creed 3D on the display and thought it was an error and meant to look into it and forgot till this forum. Saw it tonight and hope to see it again and purchase! Thanks Warner-MGM

Thanks xbs.
If this was available in 3D on home video blu ray 3D, I'd consider it over the 2D version, but from the sound of it, have low expectations of the 3D. Reminds me of the conversion for I Robot.

Saw this the other nite and yeah, it's a little
disappointing. Some sequences are simply flat
and set back in the screen while others have an
actor separated from a flat background.
A few shots here and there (mostly during the
last hour) have some nice depth. Probably won't
bother seeing it again even if a 3D blu becomes
available. It's just not worth it.
