Germany Broken Flowers Blu vs. DVD?

Has anyone seen both the DVD version and the Universum Film Blu-ray and could comment on the image quality of both? I could find only one review of the Blu-ray and according to it, PQ is middling:

According to DVDTalk, the PQ of the DVD is 4 out of 5, which is much more favorable:

I'm just wondering whether I should get the DVD or the BD, and I have little to go by except for the reviews in question.

Well, when no one has an answer, sometimes you yourself have to come up with one. After viewing both DVD and BD, I can readily assert that the BD wins hands down. Not that it's a stellar picture, but it is noticeably better, and in the audio department much more so. My guess is that even in the theater the movie had a grainy, low-contrast look, and that's how it was probably meant to be seen. Close-ups, though, look pretty sharp. I think Murray's work here tops his performance in Lost in Translation. Cheers.

Been tempted to get this for a while now, the only alternative to my knowledge is the French release which has poor reviews and I believe forced subs.

Might add it to my next order, thanks for your thoughts on it

No problem. Subs are totally removable on this one.

Took a look at this today, overall better than I was expecting considering all the crap it took on the German forums.

I think partly the low contrast etc.. is due to the way Jarmusch shot it. A lot of it is naturally lit but the close ups deliver the goods, like Leeon0 said.

3/5 for PQ here

Seen much worse get reviewed much better.
