Colorado (The Big Gundown) Blu-Ray + DVD + Book

This one came out yesterday. Released by Wild Side.

Directed by Sergio Sollima. Starring Lee Van Cleef and Tomas Milian.



Contains both the theatrical (US & France I guess?) and the almost 20 minutes longer Italian version (already available on the German disc). The shorter version has English, Italian and French audio with French subtitles. The longer version has ONLY ITALIAN AUDIO with French subtitles.

Also included is a 28minute interview (in SD) with Sergio Donati (in Italian with French subs) and an English trailer in HD.
Package also contains a DVD (with only the short version? didn't check, don't care ) and a 128 page book in French.
AnyDVDHD says the disc is region free.

As far as the image quality goes, to my eyes the shorter version is the best of the three versions available (including the Explosive Media disc from Germany). It has Columbia Pictures logo and credits and I wonder if it is the recent Sony restoration? But I thought they had the longer version restored and in theaters?

The longer version on this Wild Side disc looks DNRd (or something) enough to bother me and I'm not entirely sure there isn't something going on with the shorter version as well. In comparison the Explosive Media disc looks too sharpened and... old?
But I'm no expert so whatever.

Each version has different colors and framing. I like the way the short version looks.

Oh and towards the end there is a 3 second scene of Cuchillo smirking and walking towards the camera which is present on both Wild Side versions but missing from the Explosive Media disc (this was something I remember was asked about in the thread about the German disc).
