I have an Oppo BDP-95, and the English subtitles on Last Tango in Paris are not displayed.
I know that Oppo has had subtitle issues in the past, but I was under the impression that they had been resolved. I contacted Oppo about 6-8 months ago to report the problem with LTIP, but never heard back or saw a firmware upgrade that would fix the problem. I wrote to them yesterday, and received this in reply: "We received the film in February of this year and confirmed your observations. However, we also confirmed the same issues with other Blu-ray manufacturers such as Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony, so it appears that this is a disc mastering issues, and not a decoding issue with the player." They suggested I contact MGM, but I've seen nothing to indicate that it is indeed a disc issue rather than a player issue. Has anyone else, especially with stand-alone players from Oppo or those other manufacturers (I was told that the PS3 does not count) had any such problems? Thanks. |
