USA Prototype 3D Blu-ray (2018) [Region Free]

Prototype 3D Blu-ray

Hello, previously mentioned here in the 2018 movie forum https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=163.

Opened yesterday. Ran into a good friend at the Creature/Revenge of the Creature screening who said it was so experimental it gave him a headache.
I'm still intrigued!

Some interesting reviews here https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/prototype_2018/ Only playing at the Museum of the Moving Image

I am newly intrigued, so it probably won't make it here.

Saw it today. It didn't give me a headache and it didn't put me to sleep. That said it's mostly in black and white and there's no dialogue. The soundtrack reminds me of something from Test Dept. It's only 63 minutes long and it's the director (Blake Williams)'s first stereoscopic work after 4 anaglyph features.
Lots of shots are set on 1959 Philco Predicto sets so for example you may have 3 sets each showing different screens.

I enjoyed it more than the Meg but it's very experimental. It's what I imagine my Ken Jacobs 3 x 3D disc will be like.

I saw this at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens. In a display they had a poster for Bwana Devil and the glasses used as well as a lobby card for I, The Jury.

Hi all,

Just giving you a heads up that there is now an IndieGogo crowdsourcing campaign to raise the funds for a 3D Blu-ray of PROTOTYPE. The film's distributor (Grasshopper Film) and I came up with some fun perks/rewards that will hopefully be of interest to some of you. But at the very least, this is a shot at having a new, natively shot 3D film on 3D Blu-ray, so please support the effort if you can!

Woowoo! This is awesome news - I know it's too early, but this has been on my radar since the review popped up in AV club - thank you! I've thrown my money at you - here's to a successful campaign!

Apologies if already asked - but will this be a region-free release?

Pre-ordered! As a huge fan of avant-garde in 3D, can't wait to see this film in 3D! 3D is probably the only way now to create completely new and different cinema language on experimental aspect. I've been wanting to see this film in 3D for such a long time and now finally a chance appeared! Too sad so little avant-garde 3D films got 3D blu-ray releases, I'm dying to see more Ken Jacobs 3D films, Jodie Mack's Let Your Light Shine, Rainer Kohlberger's more than everything... I even made my own graduation project in 3D just to try how much I can play with this format...

Many thanks, qw0aszx! Sounds like you and I are on the same page, re: 3D experimentation. I'm doing my PhD dissertation on recent 3D experimental work (go figure!), and all three of these films/filmmakers you mention play a huge role in my discussion, with Mack's film and Jacobs getting their own chapters. Hopefully I'll finish it one day...

Hi Astrocritic,

Just put in my pre-order and do hope it helps you reach your goal.

So happy to know there are those whom not only love 3D but are doing things to keep it alive despite limited personal resources.

Just a quick bump to note that we've recently added a couple of new perks to the campaign, including a few copies of 3-D Rarities vol. 1. (I doubt anyone here doesn't already have this, but perhaps it's a good time to gift one, especially with vol. 2 on the way soon.)

There's also one copy of the book Diableries: Stereoscopic Adventures in Hell to be had, which is one of the best books on 19th century stereoscopic photography ever produced. A beautiful and very educational object, out of stock at most online retailers.
