Some early reviews...

HitFix says:
Quote:
... one of the scariest movies I've seen in recent memory.... This movie is loaded with unnerving imagery, simple and direct scares that play on a primal nightmare level, and ideas that blindside you with the way they twist expectation.... The first segment by David Bruckner sets the tone for just how crazy things might get, and the final segment by Radio Silence feels like the brakes are off and you're flying off the mountain into the void. It's crazy, and the audience tonight was screaming, jumping, viscerally reacting. This is the sort of film that's going to creep into the permanent nightmare vocabulary of the audience, and I think the cheap, shitty VHS look of everything is a big part of why....
Ain't It Cool News says:
Quote:
... What these filmmakers remembered was that horror needs an element of fun. Not stupid fun, but real energy and excitement.... V/H/S certainly has all that. Plus gratuitous nudity, crazy gore and some incredibly inventive tweaks to a subgenre that’s trying its damndest to wear out its welcome....
/Film says:
Quote:
V/H/S is the return of the horror anthology film....
Movieline says:
Quote:
... The Devil Inside this ain't; V/H/S is fresh and pulse-quickening to the end, one of the best discoveries of this year's fest....

Sounds pretty good. I'm actually a big fan of the found footage genre as long at it's done right. Sounds like this could be a good one.

Same here. I'm one of the few people I know who has enjoyed all of the PA movies and The Blair Witch Project.

I second that. I've enjoyed the films as well. I think when it comes to these found footage movies being simple is the key. If they take it too far in the end like The Last Exorcism then it just falls apart. But as long as they keep the movie grounded and give it more realism then that's when it works. I remember when Blair Witch came out and everyone thought it was real. I think if a new age found footage film of any genre can make you feel like that in any way then it has definitely done its job.

Not that much a fan of found footage films (save for the excellent [REC] and Lake Mungo), but I LOVE horror anthologies, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. It's been getting some pretty good reviews too.

Ti West = SOLD!

Big fan of The House of the Devil (Besides it's slow pace... ) so I'll give this a chance at some point.

For some reason, I never understood all the hype behind Ti West. I know he's well respected in the "B" movie horror industry, but somethings missing for me. Didn't enjoy The Roost or House of the Devil. I personally prefer Adam West films when It comes to "B" movie horror films

That's like saying Cannibal Holocaust is like Paranormal Activity though.

I think you mean Adam Green. Regarding Ti West and Adam Green, I like them both--and look forward to basically anything they have coming out.

I was thinking the same thing. Cloverfield is nothing like Paranormal Activity.

I also really like Quarantine

I'm not a huge fan of the found footage stuff, but reading those reviews convinced me that this will be worthwhile. Looking forward to seeing it.

Is it weird that I LOATHE AND HATE the big names in the found footage category (Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity series) with a PASSION, but like a lot of other ones (including from the Asylum)? Even Apollo 18 I thought was mediocre, but LIGHT YEARS better than Blair Witch or Paranormal?

I guess I am kind of confused on this...someone help me out...

So this has already been filmed and released to critics...hence the reviews, but what is the relaese date?

Are there any trailers anywhere?

Do they have a studio to distribute this, yet?
