Default CinemaNow and Rovi launch beta at home D2D service

Stopped by CinemaNow today and saw a logo for new at home D2D beta service for PCs/Macs.

Same prices as Vudu's D2D. It only specifically mentions DVD's so not sure if Blu-Rays are supported yet if you have a BD drive.

It sounds like you can just do this via your disc drive. I wish the VUDU one worked that way too since I don't have any WM's near me. The price is a bit high to upgrade from DVD to HD though, but I do like the idea of this.

Where did you see a price for the CN one btw? I didn't notice it on the link you provided

I just did my first test of this and worked great. The prices I had $2 for SD and $5 for HD.

Apparently, they can go up to a $1 higher for each depending on the movie/studio: http://rovicorp.force.com/cinemanow/Show_cn_Article?url=CH000003707

Can you use CinemaNow store credit (like the gift cards they sell at BB) for this?

I would easily pay 5 dollars for an HD Upgrade of Super Mario Bros.

It should as long as Vudu offers the same movie in UV.

Yup, as long as it's UV on Vudu. I've tried this with 4 movies tonight. All recognized correctly by the program and showed up as correct movie in HD on UVVU.com almost immediately and on Vudu as HDX within minutes.

Tried it with Blade Runner: The Directors Cut.
It's listed as available on the site, but when I inserted it it says "Not Available for Download Please Insert Another Disc"

It appears it's only doing DVDs, lol. What a waste of time.

The software supports Blu Ray, but won't allow purchases. It read a bunch of my Blu Rays (Kill Bill, Harry Potter) but it gives the same message as some of my unsupported DVDs did. It takes you to the same page as supported DVDs along with a picture of the movie, but it says it's not available.

I'm holding off on titles which already have a blu-ray release, for now, but there are plenty of titles on that list which have only been released to DVD and may never get a Blu-ray release.
