This October a batch of 8 new horror films will be making their way to theaters as part of After Dark's "8 Films To Die For." This time After Dark is teaming up with 20th Century Fox to release the films (Lionsgate is who released them in the past). They will debut October 16th. I remember going opening weekend the first time they did this and seeing 3 films (Penny Dreadful, Abandoned, and The Gravedancers). Their films are generally a pretty mixed bag but I'm kind of excited to see this make a comeback. I hope they acquire some solid films. If it opens here I definitely want to check out a few of them. The only film announced so far is Re-Kill. Here's the trailer for that one: Unfortunately it looks like sh*t. Hopefully there will be a couple slashers in the mix. They should acquire Among The Living. They usually do have a foreign film amongst their releases. I want to see that one quite a bit. My biggest problem with this was the quality of a good amount of the films they released. I'm sure there are some really good indie horror films out there that need distributors. Ones that don't look and feel really cheap. They should try and pick up some of those. Looking forward to seeing the line-up unveiled. |
