This is awesome.

For those who bought either, wondering if they need new headsets for next-gen. I know I'd be disappointed (a little) if Sony didn't do this.

This is good news as I have the stereo headset & I would hate to have to purchase a newer pair before these stopped working!

Hopefully it's a week 1 update. Don't want to wait forever to use the Sony wireless headset.

I have the Pulse & its great but there are a few things that bother me & I never use game chat.

Comfort - Lasts me 1 hour
Battery Life - if I tolerate the pain, 3-4 hours with bass impact on.

I tried the Pulse wireless headset and didn't like it for a number of reasons.

The inside of the earcups is small with an angled surface so it doesn't just rest around your ears, it presses against them. This leads to friction sound from the headset moving slightly conducting through your ears.

There's no lateral twist adjustment on the cups and they press very stiffly against the head.

There's very little padding on the top headband so it starts to dig in within an hour or so if you have a shaved head!

Sound quality with virtual surround on is quite tinny and compressed, better with it off but still nowhere near as neutral and balanced as my decade+ old Sennheiser HD 600's.

The optional Bass Impact wasn't to my liking in Uncharted 3 using the generic GAME profile. I think it'd need to be programmed directly like rumble to kick in at the right time and even then I'm not sure I'd use it.
