Default Sony partnering with ISPs to Provide PS4 dedicated Broadband packages up to 200mbps

Virgin Media is Sony's PlayStation 4 UK ISP partner.

During its Gamescom 2013 press conference Sony announced it had struck a number of deals with ISPs across Europe for broadband and PlayStation 4 packages, saying it was aware high speed internet - essential to the PS4's success - isn't always guaranteed across Europe.

So, it's struck deals for PS4 friendly internet access with the likes of Orange and T-Mobile so gamers could be in-line for connections of up to 200mbps. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Jim Ryan said there would be "bits of the pipe are left open to gamers".

What this means, exactly, is unclear. In a note sent to Eurogamer Virgin Media executive director of broadband and digital entertainment Jon James said the broadband provider was "hard at work" with Sony to "make this the best entertainment experience for gamers across the country".

"There's going to be loads of exciting benefits for our customers but we have to keep the details under wraps for the time being," he said. "Watch this space for more details..."
