Question Who is holding on to their old movie formats?

Safe to say, most members here probably had VHS. Virtually all of us have DVD. So out of the "really old" formats which ones are you holding on to?

I'm holding onto some VHS simply for the reason I have tapes which are not yet converted. I have the dual player for a reason, you know. VHS is unique where as SOME of that stuff will never come out on BD. Like my series on early computer graphics. Nor will original family video. While much of this is converted, you always want the originals around just in case. In time, VHS will be banished from my home.

Oddly, I am phasing out DVD before VHS. Anything I can get on blu-ray isn't worth having on DVD taking space. Still have my 13" Panasonic TV too. It's good for SOMETHING, isn't it?

For those of you with the "odd" formats like BetaMax, Laserdisc / Videodisc, and w'ot ever, why are you keeping them if your favorite movies are already on BD.

I have a few VHS tapes with films not even available on DVD. Wait, where are those things again??? Come to think of it, i don´t have a working VCR any more! lol

Yeah and i hang onto my DVDs as well, some look ok upscaled or aren´t available as HDM yet. I even have PotC as SD DVD, but that DVD looked crappy even before i saw it on Blu-ray.

Too young for Laserdisc or rather i didn´t care at the time.

by this time next year i hope to have zero DVD's in my Media rack.I have sold a BUNCH and I have already given my son all the Disney stuff, super bit spidey's and fast and the furious movies, and he put em in his room. I've went from close to 500 DVD's to being down to under 200 now.

I have 2 movies on Laserdisc. If I can get a better version someday then the LD player is gone.

I'm considering getting rid of a Nintendo 64 that I bought just recently at a garage sale because I just can't make any time for it.

I have no VHS and haven't had VHS like forever and stuff (~1999).

I have some cassettes from a band I was in 15 years ago. Even back then I wanted the stuff put on a CD but it never happened. I guess I need to make some time to digitize the stuff.

I'm going to use this thread as motivation to get some "spring cleaning" done early.

Thanks,

-Brian

depends what you mean by "holding on" things just go in boxes and collect dust for ever. I don't like throwing things away(or selling) but history is history and I just don't use them and then eventually they go to a box in the basement.
