Is it safe to buy a blu ray player now and if so which one seems to be the best? Id hate to buy one that is gona be replaced in a few months by a more advanced model at the same price!

I'm buying the Sony bdp-s1, but I am taking a chance all be it small that the bda will lose. I would say the safest bet to make is the ps3. Even if the bda falls on it's face(not likely) you can always play games. It all really depends on your set up as to if it is worth buying one of the more expensive players

best buy is selling some but amazon has alot, there was some trick in one of the threads to access the blu-ray discs that haven't been released yet on amazon you'll have to look for it I think it was titled amazon trick or something. here it is. I think they are going to update this site soon to give us direct links to movies out+coming out soon.

I can't wait for more and more discs to be released. I"m going with the pioneer simply because you can stream media to it via ethernet and its gonna be one of the best launch players out there.

You can wait a year for a decent player comes out, or get PS3 for $600. Blu-Ray players alone are $1000. Even if you use PS3 just for movies, it will save you $400. It can also play HD games, which MSFT charges $400 for standard DVD format console. If you look at it in that light, PS3 has a higher value than Xbox 360. PS3's Blu ray playback should hold you of for a couple of years till the really kick ass Blu-Ray players are availible. Not to mention a very extensive library. |
