Default OHMSS - Picture "hang ups"

I have recently purchased On Her Majesty's Secret Service. When I tried the disc in my OPPO BDP-93, I noticed that from the outset there were numerous times when the movie would "hang up" for a second or so before continuing.

I tried the film in my Sony PS3 and it played without a glitch.

I tried it again in the OPPO - same problem - numerous times when the picture would freeze up for a second or two. Interestingly, these pauses did not occur in the same place. Sometimes a section that "hung up" before would play smoothly when tried again.

I returned the disc and got a replacement from Amazon. Just tried it in the OPPO - exactly the same problem.

The OPPO plays all other discs without issue. I don't understand why the OHMSS disc should be giving me problems like this. Are there any known issues with OHMSS. Does anyone have a solution.

Thanks in anticipation.

I can't remember issues been reported, the best thing to do is to contact OPPO. I think they're one of the best companies to respond to incompatibility problems with firmware updates if they're needed.

Unfortunately Oppo appear to have lost interest in firmware updates for the Oppo 93 as they focus on their newer Oppo 103 model.

Last official firmware for the Oppo 93 dates back to October 2012. There is a more recent beta update from April 2013, but 5 months and still not officially moved to production.

Yeah Oppo has been a bit slack with making the last beta for the 93 official. I've got a BDP-105 in silver on order which I should receive in a few weeks time, hopefully when it's discontinued it's not treated the same.

That's a shame. While I know a lot of guys upgrade their OPPO players to newer models it would be nice for them to try and keep the others up-to-date if they're running into issues.
