Of course he's going to say that. I would fully expect him to. But, that doesn't mean that the public feels the same way. Let's just wait and see what happens this Christmas.
This statement ultimately just sounds like a desperate attempt at overvaluing his own product. ![]() |

Nintendo is having a bit of a temper-tantrum at the moment... just leave them be. They're doing that thing where they are crying relentlessly for attention because they know they failed this generation in terms of home consoles... so just let them cry themselves to sleep

I would say meh about the launch games too.
Exclusives... DC Online- Not new. Driveclub- Standard racing game. Zillzone- FPS overkill and Killzone will be lost between COD and BF4 within a month, thus making it a PS+ freebie in no time. Knack-No interest. Warframe- F2P PC game. Nothing great about it... below avg F2P and just more FPS overkill. Cross-platform... Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Ubisoft)- Out on everything. Battlefield 4 (DICE)- Out on everything but the Wii U. Call of Duty: Ghosts (Infinity Ward)- Out on everything. FIFA 14 (EA Sports)- Out on everything but the Wii U. Just Dance 2014 (Ubisoft)- Out on everything. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (TT Games)- Out on Everything. Madden NFL 25 (EA Sports)- Out on everything but the Wii U. NBA 2K14 (Visual Concepts)- Out on everything but the Wii U. NBA Live 14 (EA Sports)- Out on everything but the Wii U. Skylanders: Swap Force (Vicarious Visions)- Out on everything. Watch Dogs (Ubisoft Montreal)- Out on everything. Only game I see myself getting at launch is BF4. 2nd purchase will probably be Dying Light or NFS: Rivals. |

Nintendo has a niche that can't really be touched by Sony or Microsoft. The Wii U certainly isn't on par with the PS4 or Xbox One as far as power goes, but it does have the games that those 2 will never have, and have historically sold better than most first party titles from the others. I don't see the Wii U doing as good as the Wii did, but I think it'll still sell quite well in the years to come.

The name actually makes sense. It supports the 3DS games in 2D. I think consumers will understand what it means when they see it. It's the design that's the problem.

I know, but not everyone cares to play 3D games, so a cheaper option that can play 3DS games in 2D makes sense. The name translates that better than anything else I can imagine.. t's just ugly as hell. Getting rid of the clamshell design was a huge mistake. I'm sure some games won't work as well without 3D though, so that's another downside to this thing. I also think they could have probably made the difference in pricing bigger. Perhaps sell the 2DS for $119.99

At first I didn't like the 2DS. I thought it sounded ridiculous and stupid. But after thinking about it and reading about how it's aimed at budget audiences and kids under the age of 7, it made a lot of sense. In that respect, it's a great system.
It doesn't have a hinge, so the casualty rate will be much less. It has only one screen that appears as two, so it cuts down on cost significantly... and it's a cheaper alternative if you want to play 3DS games but don't like or can't see 3D! Probably Nintendo's first good decision in a while, even if it is being mocked. The Wii U deserves mocking because of how much of a failure it is and will be. Cutting $50 on the price won't change a damn thing. They should have brought it out for much cheaper initially... and 32 GB? Really? Then we can talk endlessly about its lack of power in relation to the PS4 and Xbox One. With the Wii, most people shrugged its lack of power off because they know that the Wii was able to deliver experiences that wouldn't be as successful on the other consoles, and some experiences that could only be experienced on the Wii. But considering the Wii U was supposed to be Nintendo's reach towards the core gamer they lost with the Wii, it fails on every conceivable level and doesn't get a free pass for being a "niche" system. It's not trying to be a niche system this time around. |
