Default The Aviator - Only $1.77! WOOT!

Yeah, that's right. Picked up The Aviator for only $1.77. How might you ask?

Well, I picked up 4 Kubrick film's at BB when they were released. Orange, Eyes, Space and Shining. Well, I keep an eye on prices and as usual, Wal-Crap had them cheaper.

Decided to make my way to BB today and get a price match. I received $20.00 dollars and some change back. I applied that to my purchase and also price matched The Aviator against Wal-Crap.

So..

I got The Aviator for a grand total of $1.77!

$1.77 is the sort of price that would stop widespread piracy of movies. They should consider it, maybe the studios would actually make more money and a bit of extra respect while they're at it.

Edit: except, for blu, I'm happy to pay more of course! Until something better comes along, like 4K!

The money is better in your pocket rather than theirs.

I disagree. I for one refuse to DL music illegally, or to put it simply, I dont steal music. Back when CDs were the only legal way I coudnt get to much, now with itunes 99 cents a song I have bought over 800 songs in the last 3 years. I love itunes and I think 99 cents is more then a reseable price for a song. Alas 99 cent songs did not stop or slow down illegal downloads, people just love to steal. $1.77 a movie is not gonna stop piracy, it really cant be stopped.

I agree and I am the same way. I "used" to "borrow" music. Mainly because I did not want the entire cd of songs I would never listen too. However, since the advent of iTunes, 99 cents a song is more than reasonable and I can buy whatever songs I want in any order I want them. I can burn them, keep them or whatever.

There are people out there that have a hobby of NOT PAYING for ANYTHING. I have met them. They say why buy when you can get it for free. I won't say I never downloaded a movie or copied a dvd.. I have. However, I have purchased everything I downloaded or copied. I don't download unless its a good movie I want to see but don't want to go to the theaters and can't wait till it hits blu. Does that make people like me a criminal? That's for you to decide.

That is so true. As a Westener living in Hong Kong you soon come to realise how big the 'COPY' monster is that the film studios etc are dealing with. It is rampant here - and it is done quite in the open despite what the Gvmnt might have you believe.

I am only gratefull they havn't caught on to copying Blu-ray yet. In the past I have been caught out so many times with fake DVD's that you would bet your life on were real - and all purchased at so called proper shops too!

Default On downloading etc.

Just my two cents. All of my life I have borrowed and recorded records from friends. I did this on equipment and blank tapes made by sony and other people who also sell music. I still borrow CD's and lend CD's to my friends, I have never, until recently heard anyone complaining. When I see a movie for $2.00 or so at the discount theater I don't worry that the film people don't make money, but how much can they make off $2.00 ticket sales? The industry was very quick to embrace a format that was very easy to copy with no loss of data, then they were busted for price fixing and were ordered to pay everyone $20.00 regardless of how many CD's they bought. It seems the value of songs has gone up several hundred times as people who download 2 CD's are charged $200.000 for doing so (at least in MN). I no longer download anything for fear that something far worse may be in the file I downloaded then the movie I thought it was. Beware of downloads they may not be what you think. In the mean time I continue to rent and copy movies for my own viewing and avoid late fees, if Sony etc are upset they should not make recorders and blank DVD's they must know are used for this pourpose. I buy all my movies when they come out but there is no way I am waiting for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or Match Point to come out, I will download or buy illigal DVD's and get the real ones when they come out. I got a bunch taken at the airport so watch that, also watch what you have on your hard drive .

The point is, at 99 cents, the music industry is offering a fair price for safe downloads. If you still steal music when it is available at this price, then you are just cheap. Back when the only way to get that one song you want was buying 11 more for 15-20 bucks, you would have had an argument. Now music is cheap and easy to get through itunes.
