Canada Alliance Titles 10/6/09: The Faculty, The Hitcher, Cursed, Rogue, The Return, Dracula

Wow, 6 horror titles coming for October from Alliance. Not too shabby. All of the below will be updated with the specs once they become available.

-Cursed
-Dracula 2000
-The Faculty
-The Hitcher ('07)
-The Return
-Rogue

Cursed, Dracula 2000, The Hitcher & The Return were all 2.39:1 in theatres, so we'll see if we get a monkeyed-around 1.78:1 transfer. Unknown if Cursed & Rogue will be the unrated cuts or not.

Out of this batch I might just get The Faculty... Good 'ol Robert Rodriguez. I purchased the non-anamorphic DVD just a few months ago & need an upgrade. Some extras would have been nice.

I'm only assuming its the remake, since its a 'Rogue Pictures' film, which is distributed by Alliance. The original is Warner/HBO I think. I have the Region 2, 2-disc edition of The Hitcher from the 80s, which is a good set.

I must have The Faculty for my Robert Rodriguez collection. Its OAR is 1.85 so Alliance changing it to 1.78 won't be a deal breaker.

^Is that the one with Sarah Michelle Gellar? If so I enjoyed it and will probably pick up the BD if stays OAR.

Here's a big thanks, but no thanks on "The Hitcher" '07 version. What a bunch of garbage that this version is coming out on Blu-ray and the original is still stuck on a piece of garbage pre-HD/letterboxed DVD.

The remake was "ok," but it only confirmed to me how good the original was. I really, really prefer Rutger Hauer's portrayal so much better. I think a majority would agree with me.

I am in total agreement with you. The fact that the original does not have a good DVD release (in the least) for Region 1 is truly pathetic. One good thing for myself is that I have an R2 player, so the 2-disc special edition from the UK will suffice for the time being. It desperately needs a nice shiny new transfer & proper release over here.

Cover art has been supplied from www.inetvideo.com. 1. Dracula 2000 / 2. The Faculty / 3. Cursed / 4. The Hitcher / 5. Rogue

Looks like Cursed may just be the theatrical cut.

Haha, yeah some of the french titles are hilarious. The worst one IMO is on the DVD for Jackie Chan's 'The Tuxedo', or better known to les francais: 'Le Smoking'.
