USA Sony Audio Blu Ray Defects

Has anyone ever encountered this problem on the board. I recently purchased the film Carnage directed by Roman Polanski that was released by Sony last week and now I've gotten around to playing it.

The problem is that when the film starts it just plays only the film without any dialog, the music is the only thing that plays. Sorta like an isolated music and effects track.

I've tried both audio options which are really limited just to English and French and nothing has worked. No dialog is being heard at all! I tried unplugging my player and see that was the issue, but clearly is not since I put on my Blu-Ray of Side Effects soon after to make sure that it was only relegated to this disc.

This is the second time I've encountered this issue with a Sony Blu-Ray the other one being, Midnight In Paris earlier this year that I had to return to Best Buy for the same problem.

So what do you guys think the issue is and what should I do about this?

What BD player are you using?

The 2012 version of Total Recall (also released by Sony) had audio dropouts, though that was due to the branching options for the two different versions of the movie.

Turn the center speaker off from the setup menu of your player, if you're not using one.

Although, if that was the problem, it should affect all discs with 5.1 or 7.1 etc audio.

I don't use a home theater system so that does not factor into it. This has only happend with Sony titles and my Toshiba player plays everything else perfectly so I just simply don't get it.

Sounds like you're using a BD player configured for 5.1 audio, connected to a stereo TV?

Change the audio output setting on the player to 2.0 Stereo so it downmixes surround tracks.

Um no. Mine's a flat screen that's the latest and does support 5.1 and higher and I know this because I'm watching Oblivion and that movie is loud. So that clearly isn't the issue.

I guess I'll just have to return the disc to BB and get a new one. I'll have to contact Sony as well and see what the deal is because this is just too odd. Thanks for the help!
