Meet John Doe - coming in 4K and Bluray this fall!

The big news today is we've started a 4K restoration of Frank Capra's timeless forgotten man drama Meet John Doe (1941) starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. Release date on both 4KUHD and Blu-ray is likely this fall.

Crazy how many labels are deciding to release this one this year. I'm wondering if VCI will decide to go forward with their release, not like they've showed much signs of progress since they announced it through email.

As much as we wanted to release it Q4 this year, it won't happen. It's looking more like Q1 or maybe Q2 next year.

Hi David, thanks for restoring Meet John Doe. Looks like a fun Frank Capra film.

I am currently considering purchasing it during the ClassicFlix sale.

However, I was initially excited for a 4k release.

Could that still be in the works, or because of various challenges, there will only be the Blu-ray version?

It's been cancelled due to poor pre-order sales. It's not likely ever happening from CF. I thnk you're safe buying the Blu-ray version.

I would never 100% rule anything out, but we have zero plans for a UHD release of DOE and I just don't see it happening.

Great price! Pulled the trigger, one of Capra's best films and one of his darkest.

I now have all the key Capra films in bluray or 4K.

I have really been waiting for this one.

12/24/24. The movie looks amazing! Incredible restoration in my opinion.
