Default PS3 updates question

I'm wondering since I don't yet have a wireless router to go online with my PS3, can I load firmware updates by burning them to a CD and then popping the disc into the PS3?

Apologies in advance if this has been covered in the past.

no, but you can burn them to a thumbdrive/memorycard/usb mass storage and load them that way I think... Ratchet and Clank has the newest firmware on it though, if all else fails give it a rent.

Actually I think there may be directions on how to do this via a cd as well. Can't access the PS3 site from work to verify but I believe you can.

It is defintitly possible because the games will sometimes come bundled with the patches on them if they need them.

Why just wireless, can you go online with a wired connection? Just curious...

I suppose so, but wireless would take care of Mrs. Roach's laptop too, so I am thinking in those terms.

So from the responses I gather the updates that come with new games are the same as the ones pumped out on line... I should be in good shape for now then.
