Default Spidey 3 DVD sale during the first day of release.

hey,

okay this is a bad news/good news. I found this link about how well spidey did during the 1st day of release. apparently transformers sold 3 times more than spidey 3 on the day of the release. the good news the final numbers for the week isn't in yet. but it is expected to be higher than Transformers. another good news is that Cars, Ratatouille and Pixar short animated stories are coming out this Tuesday. This is going to be a blow after blow from BD to HDDVD. so lets pray ITS GOING TO BE A KNOCKOUT.

P.S I know it is for DVD sale, but i thought it should be brought up. I have a feeling that the HDDVD camp are going to take it and manipulate the truth. otherwise, WHY WOULD IT BE SHOWING AT A SITE THAT IS PRO HDDVD. IF YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I MEAN BY IT!!!

HERE IS THE LINK:

That item seems to be saying that the DVD of Transformers sold three times what SM3 did on the first day. Does not seem to be a comparison of high def sales.

Cool Transformers..whatever

HD-DUD lovers were desperate for a good title to come out on HD..so everyone bought it...it wasn't even that great of a movie really...great action sequences but other than that it was too long and at times boring...blu-ray studios have been putting out excellent movies and a wide variety pretty much from the beginning so we are not especially anxious to find that one great title to showcase our players...we have had those showcase movies all along. Spiderman will kick Transformers butt...no doubts here!!!

I know. Like you said its just the DVD sales, but think of it this way, i have a feeling those MANIPULATIVE, LYING, SACK OF CRAP called HDDVD CAMP are going to have a blast with it, and use it for their advantage. this is why I provided this link. However, I know for a fact that even IF SPIDEY 3 DOESN'T SELL WELL DURING THE 1ST WEEK OF RELEASE. There will be a major blow coming from PIXAR/DISNEY this tuesday.

I don't think DVD sales matter much for the high-def war. In fact, I'd even argue that lower DVD sales would mean well for Blu-ray due to the reasons I posted elsewhere:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=3801

In short, I think the DVD/high-def ratio is one of the things studios (esp. Warner) would be watching this holiday season. Movies sell better this time of year so higher absolute sale numbers don't mean much. However, whether Blu-ray or HD-DVD is making gains relative to DVD is something that can fortell the future of the respective formats.

enjoy

As if anyone can actually tell how much Transformers sold the first day, after the wholly misleading press release. Then again, perhaps the Virgin guy actually talks about the performance of the title in just their stores -- and they're not mentioning the split SKUs of the single and boxset releases. Could be he referred to the single-film release only.

In any case: Sony would not discuss exact numbers yet but confirmed that it was the best selling Blu-ray title from the company yet.

Spiderman 3 is also going to be skewed by the boxed set. I went for that and probably alot of others, so it's going to be difficult to see how the one film will compete Transformers. Not really a fair comparison IMO

Speculation about TF and SM sales one day before the studios announce their sales is not productive use of time. The expected sales of the box and single unit disk will likely be known tomorrow. If not, then SM3 didn't sell well enough to be announced.

Until that happens, it's just wasted bandwidth.

Given Paramount's statement about HD-DVD sales, why would anyone actually believe the 8.3 million DVD sales number?

I'm going to have to disagree... it was a great movie. It wasn't deep, it didn't make you think, but it made me want to jump out of my seat at times. Great movie, awesome in the theatre with a lot of other people. I can't wait for the Blu-Ray, some day.

I wouldnt doubt that Tranformers would sell more then Spider-man 3 because there was far more fan hype for transformers and a lot of people loved the movie. Now spider man was a flop and mostly everyone i know disliked it. The only reason i bought the boxset was to get the first 2 movies.

It was such a flop that it made more money in the box-office than Transformers did...

even though i dont know why the 1st one has anamorphic widescreen and the others are just widescreen but i did like the fact that it came with spider-man 2 and 2.1 on 1 disc even if there wasnt any extras on it but thats ok besides i dont think they could of been able to fit any extras anyways on that 1 disc but why is number 3 the only one with PCM?

Its diffucult to make a comparison since spiderman 3 is also available as part of a trilogy.

How many Transformers were sold? There are so many disputed figures around, it's impossible to determine. Therefore any comparison should be treated with suspicion. I'm sure Blu corner would state the figures as 2:1 and the red corner will be saying 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000:1 in red's favour.

To add to the confusion many outside North America would be purchasing Transformers from North America. As Spider-man has been out for over a month in region B countries, international sales from North America will be much weaker for spider-man, then with the Spider trilogy vs S3 there is no way a call can be made on this not even if Sony and Paramount gave factual figures.

I thought we did not still know how many transformers copies were sold? There were multiple numbers out there from different sources so I would not believe it until a real number comes out, for both TF and SM.
