Default 'Selfless' - Ryan Reynolds to Star, Tarsem to Direct

Quote:
Ryan Reynolds and Director Tarsem in Talks for SELFLESS

Ryan Reynolds and director Tarsem (Mirror Mirror) are in talks with Endgame Entertainment and FilmDistrict to make Selfless. The script by Alex and David Pastor made the 2011 Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays. Here’s the logline:

Quote:
An extremely wealthy, elderly man dying from cancer undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness to the body of a healthy young man but everything may not be as good as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body’s origins and the secret organization that will kill to keep its secrets.
It is certainly a rich premise, one that could lead to a classic mind-bender or quickly go off the rails. That is doubly true if Reynolds and Tarsem sign on—both have shown flashes of greatness over an uneven filmography. I know I would like to see them try, so here’s hoping the talks pan out. According to Deadline, James D. Stern, Peter Schlessel, and Ram Bergman will produce (they previously teamed on Looper).

After two misses, I hope Tarsem gets back on track.

I've seen three of Tarem's films. I thought the Fall was just okay, but was a real visual feast. I'll give it another shot someday since everyone seems to love it. Mirror Mirror to me was the better Snow White film of last year. It had a good look, it was fun, but it kind of wore out its welcome and featured a terrible performance by Julia Roberts. The Cell was pretty good.

I'll still keep watching his flicks because he has talent, and I think he's still building up to his true masterpiece. He should also attach himself to a superhero franchise, or some all out fantasy film.

I thought Immortals had a really unique style that was pretty cool. Tarsem is a pretty good director.

from Deadline.com
Quote:
As part of the October deal that saw FilmDistrict being absorbed into Focus Features, the latter has taken over distribution of two more titles and announced a new release date for one of them. The sci-fi thriller Selfless, starring Ryan Reynolds, originally had been set for September 2014 but now will go out wide on February 27, 2015. The Tarsem-directed pic from writers Alex and David Pastor has that weekend to itself for now. It centers on a terminally ill billionaire who buys a chance for eternal life through an experimental underground medical procedure.

Mirror Mirror was ok for a quick Studio for Hire job.
Not great but it was a decent kiddie flick I guess but IMMORTALS really really let me down.
