PS3 title Dynasty Warriors No. 1 at Japan retailer

Koei Corp.'s Dynasty Warriors Empires 5 for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 ranked as the No. 1 selling game title at Amazon Japan on Tuesday to signal an increased demand in the hardware.
The next installment in the tactical strategy series will be released in the territory on Nov. 11.

The release of the title will coincide with the release of the 40GB PS3 SKU in Japan. The latest PS3 model will include a Blu-ray disc drive, built-in Wi-Fi, and a wireless controller.

On Saturday, Capcom Co.'s Devil May Cry 4 for the PS3 ranked as the No. 1-selling title. It ranked in the top 5 on Tuesday.

Game magazine publisher Enterbrain last week said that the Wii outsold PS3 2-to-1 in Japan in Oct. compared to a lead of 6-to-1 in June to slim the sales gap between both consoles.

Sony in Oct. price cut the PS3 by 10 percent in Japan to spur sales. The company last month recorded a 96.7 billion yen loss in the game division that was offset by a quarterly profit from strong electronics sales.
