Honestly my friend, I wouldn't buy anything. I would turn on Cinema mode and set the lighting in the room to how it is going to be when you watch movies. I would find a scene that shows lots of colors then fine one that is relatively drab, and I would replay them over and over, tweaking the settings a bit until you have what looks best and most consistent to you.
If you had a larger screen or planned on keeping the TV for a very long time, then maybe I would go through the process of doing some serious fine tuning, but coming from a 2010 Panasonic Plasma and pulling my hair out with a million calibration discs and settings, I finally ended up going with a tweaked version of the Cinema settings and used it for well over two years on those very settings, to much enjoyment. |

Truth I would rather use either the Disney WOW or the Spears and Munsil disk as they have some good informative segments on the disk about what you are doing but if you don't want to spend money on the disk then you could always use the AVSHD 709 disk which is free to download and burn and offers most of the test patterns you would need to get a decent calibration. You may be somewhat limited as you would not have the color filters to do the actual color correction but hey its better then nothing. You could also try to locate one of your Sony or THX certified, or Disney Blu-rays which have some display calibration tools on them. I think there may even be an IPhone app as well.
Hope that helps T |

If you don't find someone who has already calibrated the same model, I suggest using th 2THX optimizer that comes with a fair number of DVDs. Not as many BDs (I think the onyl one I have with it is Terminator 2: Skynet edition). Although you don't need them, I recommend buying their glasses for doing the tint and hue. The glasses are only a couple of bucks and cheaper than the Disney calibration disc.

It's on the BD. I believe it is in the setup or features menu. You should see something about THX Optimizer. Select it and then run through the various display tests. After you adjust each on your display, the next chapter button on your BD player remote will take you to the next test.
