God’s Not Dead 3: Light in Darkness is up for pre-ordering at Amazon. I own the first two movies in this trilogy on Blu-ray, and I have not seen the 3rd film yet.

![]() God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness on Blu-ray (brief user review) (also called God’s Not Dead 3) God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness is the third movie in the God’s Not Dead trilogy. In fact the studio sometimes calls the movie God’s Not Dead 3 (God’s Not Dead 3 is the official name that appears when the Blu-ray disc is inserted into a Windows PC and one looks at the electronic folder name instead of looking at the Blu-ray disc main menu name). While I did enjoy watching God’s Not Dead 3 it was my least favorite in the series. In general, for Christian movies the God’s Not Dead trilogy is very popular among most Bible believing Christians. However, God’s Not Dead 3 only generated a little over 6.4 million dollars at the box office and was the least popular movie in the series. The first God’s Not Dead movie had a budget of 2 million dollars and generated 64.7 million dollars in box office sales (which is really good box office sales and profit for a modern day low budget Christian movie). God’s Not Dead 2 had a 5 million dollar budget and generated 24.5 million dollars in box office sales (Not as popular as the first but still a very nice profit for Pure Flix Entertainment). Of course, the main goal of a Christian movie is to be a witness to the world, by bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to both Christians and non-Christians. The second goal is to have a successful and profitable movie so that more Christian movies can be made (And that second goal is very important since several movies that lose money can literally bankrupt a studio regardless if the studio is secular or Christian). Pure Flix Entertainment with their business relationship with Universal Studios was able to release God’s Not Dead: A Light In Darkness on the Blu-ray format. 100% of all 3 God’s Not Dead movies are fictional Christian movies with storylines that are realistic (something similar could or has occurred in real life). Perhaps one of the reasons why God’s Not Dead 3 was not as popular as the first 2 movies, might be because the third movie has some tough issues in the storyline and is not as upbeat as the first two movies. God’s Not Dead 3 deals with a storyline that shows that even Christians sometimes question their faith in God and the Bible. Even Pastors of churches sometimes struggle with their faith in Jesus Christ during their Christian life. This Christian movie shows the reality that even Pastors are human with a sin nature and sometimes briefly question and struggle with what is the morally correct thing to do in complicated situations. This movie also shows how the secular world is increasingly attacking the body of Christ. Pastors that are required to submit their sermons for review or face being arrested from the government is not too far from reality in America even though the constitution is suppose to guarantee freedom of speech under the first amendment. This movie shows a Christian church being burned down and legal battles with lawyers over the right to have a church on a college campus. God’s Not Dead 3 is more about the conflicts the body of Christ is having with the secular world. Christians and non-Christians have different worldviews, and because of those different worldviews lawyers and other authorities sometimes battle it out in a culture war that should remain peaceful but sometimes results in violence. Some of the positive things in God’s Not Dead 3 is that it shows that sometimes Christians including Pastors can still be faithful to the word of God in the Bible and at the same time once and awhile withdrawing from some legal battles, and letting the other side get their way in the interest of offering unity and peace in the community. Like building a church in another area of town instead of rebuilding the church on a college campus. This is a different style of God’s Not Dead movie, and while being the least popular in the series, it feels like reality since many Christians today at least once in their life have struggled or even questioned their faith. In addition, with all the legal battles going on between atheists and Christians today in American this movies fictional storyline is very similar to 21st Century reality. I highly recommend God’s Not Dead 3 on Blu-ray for those Christians that own the first two movies. Blu-ray and DVD optical disc comments God’s Not Dead 3 was released on a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack. The dual layer 480i DVD uses a total of 6GB out of 8.5GB and only contains the main movie with a few of the extras. The dual layer 1080P Blu-ray disc uses a total of 44.8GB of space out of 50GB. The only purpose of the 480i DVD disc is for those families that have not upgraded all their DVD players to Blu-ray players yet. The Blu-ray disc offers the best picture and sound quality along with all the extra features (the DVD disc only has a few of the extra features). Video quality God’s Not Dead 3 along with all of the movies in the trilogy have only been released on the standard Blu-ray format at 1080P quality. It is disappointing that God’s Not Dead 3 did not get a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release. God’s Not Dead 3 has a digital intermediate 4K master that was used to create the 1080P Blu-ray disc. The MPEG-4/AVC 1080P quality is reference quality with a very nice high bit rate being around 36Mbps for many scenes (sometimes even higher bit rates). The color quality and resolution detail looks excellent for a standard 1080P Blu-ray disc. This Blu-ray disc is encoded with both English SDH and Spanish subtitles. Audio quality God’s not Dead 3 contains a lossless English 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack that is bit for bit exactly the same as the studio master. Overall the audio mix was around average with easy to understand dialogue coming out of the center channel. The surround and subwoofer channels were active during certain scenes in the movie. I have heard other Christian movies that I felt had a better audio mix. Also included on the Blu-ray disc is a lossy Spanish 5.1 DTS surround soundtrack at 768kbps. A lossy English 2.0 Dolby Digital 192kbps Descriptive audio soundtrack is also included for the visually impaired. Bonus Features 100% of the bonus features including the Blu-ray disc menu is 1080P quality using the MPEG-4/AVC codec. When the Blu-ray disc is first inserted several Pure Flix Entertainment Christian movie trailers are automatically played before the Blu-ray disc main menu appears. The first movie trailer is 5.1 Dolby Digital and all the other movie trailers are 2.0 Dolby Digital. 100% of the extra features use lossy 2.0 Dolby Digital at 192kbps. The Heart of God’s Not Dead lasts 22 minutes and 1 second. Rice Broocks Discusses The Film and Book lasts 4 minutes and 58 seconds. NewsBoys United lasts 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Music videos lasts 14 minutes and 32 seconds. The deleted scenes lasts 6 minutes and 59 seconds. I enjoyed watching all the extra features, however I wish Pure Flix Entertainment would have created an audio commentary track for this release. Conclusion God’s Not Dead 3 is a unique Christian movie that is part of the trilogy. There is a possibility that this might be the last of the God’s Not Dead movies (Only God and Pure Flix Entertainment know the answer to that question). The high-bit rate MPEG-4/AVC codec on this 1080P Blu-ray disc is reference quality. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio mix is average quality and bit for bit the same as the 5.1 PCM studio master. Some nice selection of extra features. God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness is highly recommend movie for Christians especially for Christians that currently own the first two movies in the trilogy. I bought the film a couple of days ago, and while I liked most of it, the ending felt off to me. I mean, Pastor Dave spends the bulk of the film fighting for his Constitutional right to keep his church where it is, only to surrender that right at the end on what feels like a whim. I get the whole message of peace and unity, but it seemed to me he was basically letting the college shoo him away.
