  Tom Jeffrey’s classic Australian film, THE ODD ANGRY SHOT, is set in the late 1960s during the brutal war Australians shared with the United States: the struggle for Vietnam!
  
  Harry (Graham Kennedy), a hard-edged Special Air Service Corporal, meets a new company of soldiers during his second tour in Vietnam. There’s the naïve Bill (John Jarratt), the easy-going Bung (John Hargreaves), the blunt Rogers (Bryan Brown), the pragmatic Dawson (Graeme Blundell), and the youthful and innocent Scott (Ian Gilmour). Because of their training as professional soldiers from Australia’s toughest Army unit, these men believe they can deal with any situation. They pass the time playing practical jokes, getting into drunken brawls and humoring themselves to keep their minds off the war. But, when the first “odd angry shot” rings out, and an enemy mortar barrage hits their camp causing many casualties, the men realize their protective shield of humor is no defense at all against the harsh realities of armed combat.

I actually just pre-ordered this earlier today while I was at Synapse's website ordering the Demons steelbooks. I noticed it wasn't listed on this site yet or Amazon. Wasn't sure if it was an exclusive or not, so I just threw it in the cart. Looking forward to it!

This is a terrific film. Graham Kennedy was a really good actor considering he turned his hand to it relatively late in his career. He's superb in The Club as well.

Pretty great transfer (amazing film) overall; only disclaimer is a fair number of horizontal damaged film lines that appear throughout the whole movie.

Great film. The Odd Angry Shot is Australia's Platoon. Both in impact and quality.
I was privileged to know a few vets here in Australia, and they agree that it's authenticity is spot on.
Watched the movie with them many years ago (on VHS) and it was a humbling, chilling, somewhat frightening, surreal experience.

Pity that it seems as if there are no plans (at least in the near future) for the Blu-Ray to be released in it's own country!

Could someone please tell me if the disc is region free? Or at least A,B.
While I may own a Region A player, I would prefer to purchase it and watch it on my PS3 and more importantly be able to lend the disc to other Aussies.
While Amazon states Region A, many discs that are supposed to be "A only" are actually region free.

It's definitely Region B playable as it played on my region locked region B player.
