I wonder what eps couldn't be cleared? Maybe ones with licenced pop music or properties now deemed to expensive to licence.

I remember hearing the Takeshi's Castle eps featuring Ultraman were never dubbed due to the Tsuburaya/Chaiyo dispute which has since been settled.

Great news! I used to have the DVDs, but I watched them too much and they became unplayable. Hopefully, not too many episodes are cut.

I'm guessing that the episodes which will not be included are...

Season 02 - Episode 12: "MXC Monster Edition - Real Monsters Vs. Product Mascots"
(Due to licensing issues involving characters owned by Tsuburaya Productions such as Ultraman.)

&

Season 03 - Episode 01: "MXC Almost Live - Greeks Vs. Geeks"
(Due to it being recorded in the U.S.A. with undubbed American contestants.)

If Prime Video streaming is any indication, the only episodes not streaming are:

Season 2 Episode 12 "Monster Edition - Real Monsters vs. Product Mascots"

Season 3 Episode 1 "MXC Almost Live - Greeks vs. Geeks"

Season 4 Episodes 3 & 4 "Most Best of MXC"

I'm pretty sure the clip show had clips of, at least, the Monster vs Mascot episode. If these are the only 3 episodes missing from the set, I'd say it's gonna be a great release.

If it's (legally) possible, I think Discotek should consider including all of those "missing" episodes on their discs as "audio only" presentations.

I recently watched this Blu-ray concert of Jimi Hendrix playing live in Maui which had the entire audio of this performance but did not have footage for every song (because it simply doesn't exist).
Instead of completely omitting those songs in the setlist when you decide to watch the concert, the audio continued to play on while the image simply switched from footage to a montage of still photographs.

If Discotek could take a similar approach with MXC: it would be like watching a screen saver (which sucks) but at least you could still listen and laugh to all of the comedic commentary.
Almost like a radio show.
Just an idea.
Either way, my suggestion is probably too late to make a real difference.

They said in their stream that 4 episodes had to be cut and one of them was a clip episode so it sounds like those 4 might be it.

That’s pretty surprising. I’ve only got the Season one and two pack, so I could be very interested in this especially if it has subtitles.

I honestly never thought something like this could get another release; it almost makes me hopeful for a similar package for the [adult swim] run of Shin Chan. Again, I’ve got the first two seasons but I would love to buy a SD on BD set if it had subtitles. I can barely make out anything Shin says anymore.

It has captions; one of the people doing them was talking about it on Twitter. https://x.com/Andrewhabara/status/1819952589938782370

Sad (but kind of expected) news regarding the "missing" MXC episodes that will not be included in any form on Discotek Media's upcoming release:

"Straight from the horse's mouth", so to speak. (dubudavid, Discotek staff member.)

I just finished going through all the DVDs about a month ago.

I hope we at least get the edited version of the Monster Special as a bonus feature. I don't really care about episode they shot in Florida.

Can't believe it's been almost 9 years since Victor Wilson died.

My wife is a huge fan, but we were late to the DVDs and only own season 1. Not going to pass this up even with some missing episodes.

Easy purchase for me! I'd be curious if there's any chance of the uncut Takeshi's Castle being released.

I'm surprised this is coming out considering how un-pc it is. What a pleasant surprise!

There's very little that's being held back because it's "too offensive." Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle are sitting atop mountains of Netflix money. South Park is one of the longest running shows on TV. Matt Rife rose to stardom on jokes about domestic violence.

For anyone that owns the dvds, are the episodes that aren't going to be on the bd on any of the dvd volumes?

No one knows who Matt Rife is. I havent payed attention to Rogan since News Radio. Dave is the GOAT though.

I think the only one included is "Monsters vs Mascots" in a severely edited version (about half the episode is cut).
