Artwork is now up for John Carter. I like it aside from the German text

Sucks for us English speaking countries. Good for Germany though. They are nice.

so everybody (like me) that paid a lot of money to get a roger rabbit steel of which they said only 4000 where manufactured are scruwed because if we waited a few months we could get the german version for a lot less, and probably the UK version will drop in price now as well....

I am a huge steelbook fan, but it is these kind of things that at the end will hold me down of purchasing any more steelbooks. They screw there own success if you ask me with releasing just to much steelbooks lately...

I've been waiting for a replacement for that Criterion ROCK oversized DVD case, which I have been using for the BD instead of the regular boring Amaray. Now I have a reason to upgrade (unless those huge ratings logos are on the case).

I wouldn't necessarily say that...as small as it may be the Zavvi exclusive has the 25th Anniversary on the front cover which the German version lacks. Just like the CA and Thor reprints from Zavvi didn't effect the first prints I do not see this German version hurting the Zavvi original.

Just preordered Who Framed Roger Rabbit, learnt my lesson the hard way by missing out on the Zavvi version.

I would get some of these as they are nice. But the German on the front is not working for me. Again no offense, just personal preference.

It might be similar to the Play.com exclusive, but with German text instead...

Whaaaaaat? And of course the two I would want are "ruined" mit Deutsch. I wonder if the Rocketeer and Dick Tracy will be from the same factory & run as the Zavvi or if there is a chance they might have higher quality printing with better colors and embossing. If they are better I would double dip.

Just received my copy of Dick Tracy. Here be photos:

The FSK logo is typically for this Disney series on a separate data sheet. The sheet is glued on by two stickers. The steelbook itself is entirely English-friendly, as it contains no German texts whatsoever.

The writing on the spine goes American way (from top to bottom), not the German way.

Unfortunately, no embossing. The surface itself is somewhat in the middle between glossy and flat.

The backside. There are some white points to the left which look like chipped off paint to me. Looks like a night sky, however I doubt it's intentional.

The inside of the steelbook is printed as well (for example, The Rock from the same release batch is not). The disc label has same art as the front cover.

Final words: if not for the white dots on the back, the steelbook would be highly recommendable. It's nice to touch and has inner art as well. Also it's very affordable: the current price is 12.97 EUR at Amazon.de.

No problemo: the German Roger Rabbit steelbook does not have the embossing and the glossy finish as the Zavvi version.

...darn german Touchstone..
the one title thatīs a german exclusive does NOT have any inside artwork AT ALL...
guess it would have been too much work to come up with an artwork of their own..
