http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1149206848144 Any advantage to using all Sony products, tv,blu-ray, and hdmi?
Also I do have an hdmi input on my reciever Onkyo TX-SR604 So will I be able to use it for blu-ray when they come out w/ hdmi audio? Last edited by vick vega; 08-19-2006 at 03:14 PM. |

Just a standard hdmi cable I think.
All that gold plated stuff is less important over digital connections than analogue ones. You either got the data... Or you don't. There's an upper limit to signal quality with digital. Last edited by Applefiend; 08-19-2006 at 01:59 PM. |

In general, just watch out for a lot of marketing and BS.
There's as much snake oil going on in cables vs. just about anything else I've ever seen. Trust your instincts. If you think it's too expensive for what it is...you're probably right. |

Yup I just looked again and realized that this was a 16 foot long hdmi cable, I'm sure thats a major price reason, it's probably specifically made for projectors. So you don't have to have the cable box/blu-ray player sitting right next to the projector to reach the hdmi input. Ummmmm I'm a dumbass. What about the reciever though?

Nah. Beauty of just about every DVD player under the sun is they have multiple audio outputs. Optical / Copper Digital / yadda yadda.
The audio over hdmi is just nice as you can plug it straight into your TV without with additional connections. If you're going the home cinema receiver route best bet is a toslink cable from your DVD Player/PS3/etc to your receiver. My Samsung P1000 puts audio over hdmi to my Sony Bravia TV, but I never use it as it sounds like poo compared to my home cinema receiver. |
