I use PowerDVD v11 for my Blu-ray playback. For digital files such MKV, AVI etc I use either VLC or Windows Media Player.

Because I am a new member, I am unable to start a new thread. Therefore, I am adding my post to this thread.
The following is what I did attempt to post, but was unable to do so ... I just purchased an LG BP06LU10 external blu-ray writer. Included with the writer was PowerDVD 9, which I installed on both my desktop and laptop. PowerDVD seems to play Blu-Ray disks properly on both machines, but I decided to take a look PowerDVD 11 Ultra. I downloaded a trial version, uninstalled the version 9, and installed version 11. When I tried to play a disc, I received error 0012 and a message that my video card was incompatible and to download an "advisor". I did download the "advisor" which said that the laptop, including the video card was good for Blu-Ray. And, as I said earlier, the video card was obviously compatible with PowerDVD 9, as discs did play with that version. I've checked and I have the latest driver for the video card, an Intel Mobile 965 Express Chipset family with 384 MB of memory (the Win 7 64 bit computer, itself, has a total of 4 GB memory). The CPU is a Core2 Duo T8300 @2.4 GHz. |

Hi. What software do you recommend? I don't even know which kinds are legitimate.
I've previously used a free version of PowerDVD, and it expired. I wasn't satisfied with PowerDVD because it was a counterintuitive system, and when I downloaded it I ended up with a different search engine on my toolbar for some reason. And now, when I'm trying to buy new PowerDVD software, the website is automatically assuming I want to buy three versions of it. Do I really need three versions to get it to work? If nothing else, I could use a list of legitimate software and illegitimate software. Last edited by Brady Kj; 03-13-2012 at 01:38 AM. |

Brady,
Check your shopping basket, it is possible you may have added it 3 times. If so just update the qty. |

Thanks. So I don't need 11 standard and 11 ultra to get 12 ultra to work. I know enough that I can change the quantity if I don't need all three. What's the difference between these three?
And is there something I can get for a similar price and know I'm not adding anything I don't want to my computer? And what's against the rules here? I read the rules. I wouldn't call any of this advertising. I don't think any of this software violates copyrights. |

I have PowerDVD 11 Ultra, but it was an upgrade from 10 which was an update from 9 and so on. The big difference is that when you get the upgrade versions they are a lot cheaper than the full version but you must have an installed previous version on your machine to qualify..Won't be upgrading to 12 as it came out a week after I upgraded to 11 and it didn't really have anything I needed(yet)
If you go to the Cyberlink website you can do a version comparison and then pick your poison. A lot of people think PDVD is very bloated and I tend to agree, but it works for me. Well I bit the bullet and got Version 12. Seems OK and no regrets so far... Last edited by Topdog; 04-07-2012 at 03:12 AM. |

My checkout list doesn't specify whether the items on the list are full versions or upgrade versions. Can I assume that it's the full version if it's 89.95?
Also, all I click on is the link to PowerDVD's website once and then Buy Now button once, and the website automatically assumes I want three copies of PowerDVD 12 Ultra, and one copy each of PowerDVD 11 Ultra and PowerDVD 11 Standard, and several free features I don't think I have any use for, including 4 copies of Power DVD Mobile. I never typed or clicked anything to suggest I want all these things, and the website doesn't let me change the number of free items I want to purchase. Also, when I clicked on "Compare versions", the only thing I understood on that page is that one version apparently lets you plug a Blu-Ray player into a smart phone. I just want one program that will play any Blu-Ray, DVD, or CD on my computer, and this forum's sticky that compares devices is from 2008, and is therefore irrelevant. |

Hi everyone. Sorry if this is not the right place to post, I'm new here and need help. I have this problem when watch blu rays in PDVD 12. During some movement/action scenes there are pixelations on my screen. At first I thought the problem was with PDVD 12 and tried TMT3. Still there were the same pixelations at exactly the same scenes. A friend of mine advised me to disable hardware acceleration in TMT3. I did it and it worked. I tried to disable hardware acceleration in PDVD 12 too. When done I inserted a blu ray disc in my BD drive and noticed that hardware acceleration was on by itself and I couldn't turn it off. Help me please with this issue.
Thanks beforehand. |

For all audio I use Foobar 2000, works great and works great as a CD ripper.
For DVD's I use Windows Media Players, works good enough so I don't see any reason, for ripping DVDdycrypter. I only use it to rip audio DVD's whenever the CD has bad mastering. Blu-ray Playback I use PowerDVD 11, although I wish WMP would just play Blu-rays, but Microsoft is just as slow as can be on this case ![]() |

I'm a new member here and i can't make my own thread, so i use this one, sry for that.
i apologise, if this question was already asked and answered. Well, i'm looking for a software which can chack my blu rays for physical errors, well or reading errors. The reason is, that i'm a collector and so i'm using digital copys, if they are available. So as i bought a Lord of the Rings box set on blu ray a few months ago, i just watched them with UV. So now i checked the discs and i noticed, that some of them have scratches (a few of them are deeper). But i don't have the time to watch 10 hours movie and a gazillion hours of bonus, just to check, if the discs are ok. Is a software available, which allows me to check the discs for errors? |

I use Corel WinDVD 12 on my HP laptop - using an HP External Blu-Ray player that also doubles a s DVD burner. It works exceedingly well on my laprop, but when I try to use it with the same program on my two PCs, I get the write protect error or the display drivers need updating messages. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I know that it's possible to pack 42 hours of video on a single 25gig BD.
Many of the Panasonic blu-ray machines do this (including my DMR-BW500). To do this they put 352x288 "CIF" format files onto the BD. 352x288 is NOT in the blu-ray spec but it ALWAYS seems to work because ALL BD players play DVDs as well. I have tried these 42 hour discs on all kinds of PC and "entertainment" BD players. None has ever failed to PLAY the 352x288 files. Now here is my question.... I want to be able to create such 42 hours BDs using software on my PC to burn the discs. Does anyone know of any software that can do this? DDA |
