No problem with this as it has new artwork. The value/rarity of the original will still stand strong for anyone that invested in it.

I have the original one but good for anyone who didn't manage to grab it and simply wants a Thor steelbook to complete their collection (as opposed to wanting it for its collectability). Be interesting to see the design - maybe the poster with his face full-on?

While I was far too broke to add to my collection when most of the phase one series was released on SB, I can't help but think that, now I've bought the Phase One brief case, does this mean I will now need to own this 2nd gen set?

That would be pretty cool. Tbh I'd quite like to see Loki somewhere on the front.

This is great! I only need Thor and Captain America from Phase 1 so this will work out perfectly.

I had given up hope on a complete Steelbook Marvel collection (without paying an arm and a leg) but maybe I spoke too soon.

While I understand what you mean, I think the value of an item should be determined by its OWNER, first and foremost.

An item's perceived value to other collectors is determined by supply/availability of that item. While I agree that a saturated market of THOR steelbooks will lower the RESALE value of our steelbooks, it doesn't make me love or value MY Thor steelbook any less.

If I buy up a bunch of limited edition steelbooks to later scalp on ebay, and the steelbooks get re-released later in mass quantities and demand for my scalp-bait dries up, what right do I have to complain to the manufacturers?

Wootball, please understand that I'm not attacking you or anyone else. I just feel like collectors worry too much about how OTHERS perceive value in their collections. For instance, my friends couldnt care less about steelbooks, so they don't value mine at all, regardless of their rarity. I buy steelbooks because of how cool the artwork is, and how good the steels look on my shelf, not because of how much they are worth.

The Thor steelbook I purchased is the most expensive one in my collection. Can happily sell it or trade it since this one is coming out . I have no interest in doing Phase One or Marvel steelbook collections anyway.
