Default PS4 Demo Kiosks

Sony has been setting up demo kiosks for the PS4. Play some demos, experience the DS4, etc. See here.

I was wondering if anyone's gotten a chance to play yet? I played at the Sony store in the Pentagon City mall in Arlington VA for 10 mins or so. My impressions...

The console itself is gorgeous. Very sleek and a nice size.

DS4 controller is very nice. Significant improvement. I've always loved the PlayStation controllers but this is finally different enough and very comfortable. Got to navigate the OS screen with the touch pad too which was pretty responsive and easy.

I only played Octodad and Knack and both were disappointing. Knack just did not look nextgen at all. If you want a fun playing Pixar quality experience at launch, just get any Ratchet and Clank game at this point. The game does not look like it's worth $60. As for gameplay, it wasn't anything remarkable. Jump, dodge, punch, jump attack, repeat. They really need to demo better levels. It's a shame more people don't get into the new Rayman games because Legends demo shows off a refreshing platformer/adventure game. But I just couldn't get over how mediocre Knack's graphics are. Don't be fooled by high res dev screenshots, this game looks like it could be released on a PS3 4 years ago.

As for Octodad holy crap the controls are weird. I got so annoyed with the dual stick tentacle controlling that I quit the demo after 2 minutes. I need more time with it but I didn't want to keep people waiting too long.

Have you played it yet? Impressions? There were a bunch of other demos but there was a line of people looking to play so I spent less than 10 mins with it. Still can't wait for 11/15 though!

Hmm poor demos to keep the line short? I don't really plan on checking for any since I haven't seen any around.. I rather demo in my house for as long as I want.

The lack of some games is a really disappointment but can't have everything.

I think select UK GAME shops were getting 'lock in events' where you can try it, but I don't think my local is so i'd have to wait till launch. Given the fact that both the top contenders for launch titles have been delayed, the list dwindled enough for me to decide to sell my launch edition and just wait till I get better bundle later on.

I was thinking the same OP... Something about knack just doesn't do it for me, as I recall better looking games 2-3 years ago...

At this moment. I don't think ps4 has any exclusives I want anymore, except maybe killzone. Every other game ( battlefield, cod, FIFA, ) can be had on Xbox , along with dead rising , forza,... Plus titanfall next year...

I may be rethinking about launch day...

Unless you know you're getting both systems, you probably shouldn't focus too hard on launch games. PS2 and PS3 had mundane launch titles (as did 360). Devs just haven't had time to work with the systems yet. The launch games for both systems (except maybe for Killzone and Forza) are all going to look incredibly rough a year or two from now. Remember Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Untold Legends? Yerrgh.

NG, looks like I'd have to go to the same mall in Alexandria. Not worth it for a short demo. Hopefully Potomac Mills will get one soon.

I hear ya... I will miss for a tho.. And dead rising was fun, and honestly am dumping my cash into Sony this time around just because I have faith in their new online setup, PS+, much better controller and price...

Gonna be an expensive month with a new $2400 70" TV, $500 av receiver, $500+ for the ps4, and another $400 on the new nexus 5..

Ouch

Its just a vizio m series, but The pic quality is pretty amazing for the price.. Actually liked it more than the Samsung 7100/7400s which was about $800 more.

Should be a good set for next gen and 3d

If you're going spend that kind of money on a TV, why don't you get a Samsung or Panasonic plasma? PQ wise they shit all over Vizio LED's!

To each his own... Have you seen the m series vizio? Different panel and processor from the e series you see at Walmart... I'm one of many people who like them better .. Sony lg, Panasonic and Samsung all had the sameconsistant issues with light bleed .. Plasmas are garbage IMO. Don't like the dirty whites and dim picture.. Plus it's a dying breed.. The pq of the m series vizio looked better than the fully calibrated Samsung 7400 demo unit at bestbuy playing its own source..and was $900 cheaper.

U sound like a hater, because you've never seen anything calibrated on a side by side comparison... Dont believe me? Check out avsforums, and check out what's being said.. Or the htf reviews in the m series line..

The newest Samsung plasma is NOT dim. It is very comparable to the current LED's on the market in screen brightness. Plus it absolutely kills LED in black level performance, screen uniformity, motion resolution, off angle viewing, etc.

I'd guess because he wants that 70" screen?

If you found someplace that sells a 70" panasonic plasma for the same price as a 70" Vizio LED, let me know.

What the above poster said as well.
I've seen them all.. I know what looks good and am extremely picky when it comes to my electronics. Its no sharp elite, but it does fine...and absolutely kills black levels , uniformity and motion blur/resolution? Lol

I suggest you quit talking before you dig yourself a bigger hole. When all the lights in my room are off and it flips to a black screen, I swear on everything it doesn't even look like the TV is on.. Very minimal light bleed, which will always happen on LED, but not nearly as bad as the 550a Sony's..

ZERO game lag, motion blur, and I watch a lot of hockey , which is the easiest thing for me to detect blur on.. Half of my living room is off angle viewing and there is minimal difference.. Nothing that even bothers me and I'm picky..

Its obvious you like plasmas and that's fine. But until you see a calibrated m series you should really stop bashing them...

I could go on and on, but I guess you didn't bother to read the reviews or how the image processing was equal to cnets best in the Panasonic s60..

So like I said to each his own..

Was at an electronics show today and got to play the PS4. The console was smaller than i thought it would be. Graphics were great. The controller is a definite improvement. Fits my hands better than the last generation.
I still like the xbox controller better as it fits my hands. However the PS4 controller is easy to get used to.

Will be really interesting to see how this "war" plays out. My local ebgames is getting 400 PS4's in and only 75 Xbox ones. So the war may already be lost for microsoft??
