Exclamation Can Apple enter the gaming market with a PIE console?

The Apple PIE gaming console. Programming. Intelligence. Engineering. (c)

Stop your drooling. It's a mythical console and name I conjured up. I am no Apple fan-boi as I own nothing from them, though my sister and her family have bought into the whole concept.

I'll say this much for Apple, their stuff is expensive but it works. They also have a way of taking lesser specs and make that hardware sing and dance in ways not thought possible.

The question here is could Apple enter the console wars? Would it be PC compatible? Should it be PC compatible? If not, would developers support it out of sheer love for the hardware inside and out? Should Apple seek out their slice of the gaming PIE, or let Sony and Microsoft battle it out? My nephew believes that if they do such a thing it would be embedded into an Apple HDTV.

One thing is certain, they need to come in with both guns blazing as no one will spend $600 on their system to play Angry Birds. But hey, someone has to make a console which actually plays in 1080P. Thoughts?
