Default Contrast question..

I've read a lot of threads on various sites were others say to keep the contrast no higher than 60 to avoid IR and Burn in.

Yet I read other threads where people have their Plasma's calibrated and the contrast is anywhere between 65-90.

Is the low contrast suggestion fro breaking in the TV or what? I'm confused.

I have a Samsung Plasma, not sure if that helps.

TIA

Low contrast (~50) is recommended for the first 100-200 hrs. After that you can raise it for regular viewing. I lower it if i'm watching sport with a channel logo in the corner. The fox world series one was particularly bad for IR - only temporary though. Lasted a few minutes max. I have a new Panasonic and contrast is usually at 79.

I have a Samsung with over 1,000 hours and have the contrast @ 53. I guess I could raise it to the 70's?
