Default PS3 Controller Issues

Okay I've had this exact same problem over the course of four PS3 Controllers (dualshocks and non-dualshocks), and just bought a new PS3 controller (a non-dual shock sixaxis one) and it's doing it too.

The controller will not stay charged up when plugged in to the ps3. I've had multiple charging cables as well, so it's not that. I'm hoping it's not the ps3 as it's not that old. it's a 1st shipped version of the PS3 Slim (not Super Slim).

The ps3 controller will be connected with the cable and it'll just have a steady red light, meaning it's not charging, but it's just powered.

But eventually it'll just start losing charge, and it'll get down to where it says that it's low on battery and needs to be plugged in. But it IS plugged in. I can jiggle the cable a little and it'll alternate from the steady blink which means it's charging, to the rapid blinking which means it's running low.

Eventually it just loses all charge, and it is almost impossible to get the sonofab1tch to get working again.

As I said, I've used multiple cables, multiple controllers, and they all do this. I have no idea what to do. I can't charge them up via the PC because it does the same thing, and the PC often says that it's too much power for the USB thing, or whatever.

I'm also getting a similar notice on the Ps3 saying max power has gone to the USB devices and I have to unplug one. But there's only two USB ports and this is plugged into one of them, and the other is empty.

Please someone tell me how to get this fixed, because I'm tired of every single effing controller I get having this exact same problem. These things are way too expensive to go through this so many times.
