Default Valkyria Chronicles to get PS4 remaster and new game in the series

SEGA has confirmed to Famitsu Magazine that it'll remaster the excellent Valkyria Chronicles for PS4, while a new title in the series known as Valkyria of the Blue Revolution is also coming to the system.

I hope this gets a western release too, still have the original on PS3, it's an acquired taste but I loved it!

It was a great game, but it depends on how much you like the genre, I know some people just hate it full stop.

All we need now is fire Sega to announce shenmue HD collection

This is great news and i'm glad that the series is finally making a return to a console. So when can I expect to see a Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 HD Remaster for PS4, SEGA?

There was a rumor in famitsu back in 2014 that 2&3 would be released together whilst 1 would be a stand alone release.

So we've got 1 and a new entry, just waiting to see if the 2&3 rumor was true, maybe they will wait to see how well 1 sells first?

Rumor was they would be in the style of the first game, and all dlc would be included.

I see that the first game has sold more than 500,000 units on steam, which is pretty amazing.

Played a little of it on PS3. LOVED the art style of the game but not my cup of tea. Glad for those who are into this genre though.

Cool. This was one of the first game I got on the PS3 but sadly never beat it. Dont know why as my library was sparse back then. Never played the sequel

The new game is an RPG and not a SRPG like past games. The remaster will include all DLC and trophy support with improved graphics and access to a demo for the new game.

Always interested in the art style / setting for this game. If it comes to the west on PS4 I might grab it.

I think it will get one considering they remastered the game for PC and released it worldwide

Excellent. I loved the game as it was, but generally prefer normal RPG mechanics over the 3d SRPG battles. Just my own personal preference, of course.

It's a genre all of its own though. I loved it. And since playing it I've tried to find games similar since but their really isn't anything.

I dearly hope it gets released with English subs somewhere. Anywhere.

This was a phenomenal game. One of my all-time favorites. Would buy the remaster in a heartbeat if it reached the states.

I really hope we see the new game here in the west, was so disappointed we only saw one sequel, and it was on the PSP.

I'm disappointed that the new game is a standard JRPG. The combination of third person shooter and SRPG is part of what made the original game unique, along with the art style. I want a new game in the style of the original on a console (not a handheld). I guess I'll have to settle for a remaster, but I feel like they are wasting some of the potential of this IP.

I'm with you 100% It would be a waste. I can't understand why noone has tried the style in other games. It was so much more interesting than the button mashing jrpg style

bc Valkyria Chronicles was a cult hit but it didnt sell well. Its gameplay style was pretty niche and didnt appeal to most.
