The Saroo/Sue Brierley commentary does provide some good insight into Saroo’s own feelings and the divergences from the real story, however it does require a good amount of fast forwarding. It’s more of a select scenes commentary despite not being labelled as such, as they don’t have so much to say about every single scene. Brierley is more of a support for her son without having much to contribute, maybe the odd funny anecdote from his childhood. How often do commentaries get the real people that inspired the biopic talking?
I would say the Extended Australian Edition is definitely worth it for a few nice additions, especially dealing with flashbacks and trauma (plus, who can say no to Rooney Mara kissing in a club?), but if you’ve only seen the international version it isn’t the largest difference. Honestly Mara feels a little frozen in time the number of times she gets to play students (she was also a student in 2010 in The Social Network. https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=810224 I think the main thing missing from the Australian release is the Never Give Up Sia music video. Sia’s been involved in so many film soundtracks now though! Last edited by CelestialAgent; 11-11-2020 at 01:48 AM. |
