Default What size plasma tv for this Room? Pictures.

I have more pictures, but they wont send to my email to upload.

I just moved, and the 42" (pictured) looks like it shrunk down to about a 24" on the way over. The room is 17' across, and I sit 8.5/9ft away from the back of the couch to the middle of the tv stand. The tv stand is 56" wide.

My two choices really are the 55/60vt60, or 60st60. I personally think 55" is probably the right size for the room without overpowering it, but i'm not sure.

Also, I have blackout curtains (the turquoise ones) but some sun gets through the blinds on the sliding glass doors that lead to the balcony. What's a good option for that? The glass doors are thankfully on the side, and not directly behind the tv.

I sit about 9.5 to 10 feet from my tv. I went from the 50" Pioneer Elite PRO FHD1 to the Panasonic 60ST60. The first time watching the Panasonic, it seemed a bit strange, for maybe 5 seconds. Then all was perfect.

Get the 60ST60, you won't regret it. If you went with the smaller screen, then you would most likely wish you had gotten the bigger one.

Also, I got my 60ST60 last week from Amazon for $1499.99. It seems they are in short supply, so I recommend putting one in your cart, it will be from another seller for more $$$, but it will be way easier to see if it's in stock from Amazon just by clicking on the one in your cart. Seems like Amazon gets in a small (25 or so) batch every few days and they sell out within an hour or so. Check often, every few hours until you get one.

Oh, as far as the blinds go, should not be a problem since they are on the side. But if you own the house / condo, perhaps tinting the windows would help if the sun bothers you.

Good luck

I sit about 9.5-10 feet away and live in a small apartment, and I could seriously go bigger than my 65". I'm not exaggerating either. I really thought I would get good immersion with a 65 inch at 10 feet but thats not really the case.

Go the biggest you can afford.

EDIT: Looking at your distance again from the pic. Definitely go at least 65". I think you'll be happy with a 60" too but meh....
Man with that wall space you could get a nice projector.

I sit about 8.5 feet back and I have a 55" TV I would probably go with the 60" assuming that's the better TV.

I heard of a lot of people who have bought a 40" TV who wish they went bigger I have never heard of someone who wished the went smaller.

I would say 60 inch from your viewing distance.

Lol, I sit about 11.5 feet away from my tv that is only 50 inch. You have some good choices there.

Your living room is too large for a 42". You can very easily go for a 65 or at least a 70" screen. If it was me, I would go for a 70".

The biggest you can afford. Stick to either Panasonic or Samsung. Have you considered a PJ?

If you are sitting about 9' away, then the ideal screen size would be larger than 80" diagonal for a 16:9 screen... so yeah, go as big as you have the budget for. There is hardly ever a time where the display is too big for the room. If I could have a 110" plasma to replace my projector/screen I would, but there are 2 issues - it would draw a lot of power (looking at a 1.5-2KW draw) and it would not even be remotely affordable.

some updated pictures. even at 8' away 60" isn't too big? I wish the panasonics had a swivel base.

[Show spoiler]

You need to wall mount your set (if possible). You have more than enough wall space to do it (if you choose to).

If within your budget, I'd say at least 65". I'm sitting 8' from a 60" display and when I upgrade it'll be in the 65" to 75" range.
